I use 50lb braid myself and i do alot of surf fishing! I've found with the 30lb braid the smaller diameter does seem to cut in a bit more. I've also found i have more snap off's when fighting big montser kelp fish!!So because of this i went to 50lb. It seems to be alot easier to use in the surf and it's good when you hook up to big sting ray as you can give it a bit of stick and get it in quicker.On the other hand it also depends on how sporting you wanna be?but for me i prefer 50lb!cheers

Down the south east here ellies are a pretty common catch during Autum. A lot get caught up the surf beaches like 28 mile crossing etc. and they are caught from a lot of the jetties like South end, beachport.
