2. show was alright. The kids enjoyed it' date=' but if this is what passes as a suitable set up god help anyone who has little or no idea about what they are buying!and no it wasnt the only one I saw. Was on two different sized vessels.Scarey isnt it!

And which dealers employed rock apes for mechanics and to proudly display this......you've got to be kidding, will be worth going there just to see which dealers not to take my boat to for service/repairs
3. 6 PM closing?? bit early if you work, too bad if you want to go after work, certainly won't be handing over my cash for 30 minutes worth of browsing.Have been disappointed with the last one that I went to at the Convention Centre, few exhibits and the prices on all items were very ordinary.

4. The chances of getting caught are basicaly zero..I have been parking at garden island ramp for 12 yrs now and been so lucky not to have something go wrong..Touch wood..

I gave up at the Graden Island ramp years ago. The car that we had was always left open as it was not worth stealing, it had weeds growing out of the rusted panels but dorks kept stuffing with the trailer, winch semi un bolted, must have been disturbed, bent the side boards so the boats wouldn't track onto the trailer, tyres punctured, plug cut, nothing really major but an inconvenience both in getting home and the repairs.Current club is the postal institute next door, for a small annual membership fee you at least get peace of mind when you get back to the ramp, may not be foolproof but a dam site better than next door
5. Driving to Silverton one day and I can across of guys/girls on harleys by the side of the road. One of the guys had a flat battery. They said I was the only one to stop in 2 hours that they were thereGave them a jumper start. Met them at the west darling pub in broken hill that afternoon, and they bought us beers for the afternoon as thanks.

6. Could also go the other way, we were heading back to Torrens Island when we saw two guys (old ethnic) in a 15' wooden boat with a 20hp motor near the black pole. They were waving their arms around, so we went over there.Guys said that they broken down and wanted a tow to north haven. It was morning, water was glass and we were in a hurry to get back so we offered to call the coast guard/police to give them a tow back.Oh no they just wanted a tow. Got the phone out and one of them said that they had a phone and insisted on a tow, sounded suss, situation was safe so we bid them farewell. One of the pricks started to abuse us as we left. Got 100 metres away and they started their motor and took off. Tight asshats only wanted a tow to save petrol.

7. Fair enough, if you take out a mate out and he gps your spots them its ex mate and as with charters many of the spots are unaccessible to small boats. I went out of marion bay on a charter and the skipper heard a beeping noise, mates alarm on his phone and this dude was off the flybridge in a flash wanting to know what the noise was.

8. It may your secret spot in the ocean that you have created with surplus whitegoods, but how many times have you been going along and find structure on the sounder, stop fish it and catch something, mark it and return only to have some one abuse you as its their spot. How is someone supposed to know, there are no signs saying keep off trespassers prosecuted.

9. better still wave as I'm having a piss.P

    unfortunateley moving away as they come towards you wouldnt stop some modern gear getting a fix on your possie though :S
I don't move away,just a beer, piss or even a dump.:woohoo:
10. Been there done that with all the expensive glasses and now use the jarvis walker brand which are very light in weight polarized and comfortable not to mention that they float as well in case you let them have a swim  also for $30 u can't really go wrong.Thats just my opinion but may help. :woohoo:

Have the same, got 2 pair with JW watches as part of a rod promo2 years and still going strong, lenses don't scratch too easy which is but a good thing.
11. The hours aren't much different to the hospitality industry. :P
12. Terowie' date=' did you not read the thread earlier in this post re the margins Aussie retailers are already running on, that is of course running shopfronts??? Finatic[/quote']Yes I did, but say that you didn't have a shopfront. would your online prices be any different to those that have. in a lot of cases the answer is no.The cabella example that I used to illustrate the huge range of products available both shopfloor ( no good to us here) and online. We have nowhere near the range and its the range of products that you can get from one location is appealing. Their postage can be "expensive" but with some of the gear you just can't get here, just have a look at the fishing range The online retailing is here to stay, it will have to be a case of adapt and offer a decent shopping experience based on range.
13. A smart tackle store owner would be going online themselves and selling from catologues and I do note thats exactly what the smart ones are doing here in ozNo stock on shelves etc etc

Yes only if the prices are competitive, not go online to reduce your overheads and have the prices the same as a on the shelf store.
14. So, for all my gear which I've had for years and looked after and bought either new or 2nd hand and if I want to get spares now I can't as far as receipts go I don't have any, either haven't kept them or they have faded and are illegible. This is more like another ploy to dig deep and buy more gear given that you can't fix what you have and that has got to suck big time.:pinch:
