  3. Hey Jagger,Yep, they're a top feed we dine on them when ever we go hunting over KI. the landholder wild farms them in some dams he's made and he doesn't mind us pulling a few out for the pot. :P
  4. URL=http://imageshack.us][/urlCheated a little bit, it's really a K.I. Marron :icon_e_biggrin:

  6. Cheers scorpion, have you been up to the South Para again? and more importantly have you done anything about the broken tip on your "Raider" mate? Yakattack can do you a good deal on one if you ask him nicely :icon_e_biggrin:
  7. Good work Ranger, the expectations were high someone would come to the party with the goods :icon_e_wink:
  8. Sounds interesting Tony, I was a bit thrown by the elephant though.Hey, afishyfish,That's a real live elephant mate ( it's even got a name, we call her ELLY)I only coaxed her on to the piccie with the lure of a banana just to give you guys an idea of the scale of these massive "C Sinkers" :icon_lol: Cheers, Tony.
  9. Hey Mark,O'halloran Hill always seems to have a good stock in and in different sizes too. Trouble is you'd have to wear a disguise as I suppose they're competition Mate. There'd have to be a website somewhere I guess, maybe some of the guys on here could help. I've been overwhelmed by the know how and links provided by the blokes on strikehook. Cheers, Tony.
  10. Hey, Dan, check out Gyroscopes thumper from the South Para Reservoir at 4 1/2lbs in the old money. Now that's a FISH. :icon_e_surprised: Cal sent me a pic of a 5lb 3 oz Reddy, that's a bl..dy HORSE, considering the National record is 5 1/2lbs. They're out there mate, go get 'em.Cheers, Tony.
  11. Sincerely hope to bump into you on one of those dams someday jagger. Cheers, tonyb.
  12. Compare this little beauty with a Murray caught yellowbelly . Yep, he/she is still swimming around and getting bigger by the day. Almost 2 kgs, caught as a by-catch on my favourite Redfin lure. Cheers, tonyb
  13. Many of you blokes on here would of heard of and even used "C Sinkers"Have you ever used them as a lure retreiving device? Here's a great tip for breaking your lures out of timber, rock and other snags.Simply slide your line through the slit in the tubular plastic insert, making sure the mushroom shaped end points down to the snagged lure.Trap the insert with the lead weight so it all slides freely on your line. Then lift the rod tip as high as you can, even climbing the bank side if possible and let the C Sinker slip down to the lure, a couple of flicks of the rod tip and Voila! :icon_e_biggr
  14. Yep, she's a nice spot that one used to go down there every Friday (early finish)arvo after work in late spring time. Nice 'n deep, wonderfully clear and averaged a half a dozen each trip. Never taken one bigger than 600 grams tho', but there's got too be at least one thumper in there. Try going around the bottom of the pool and climb up the other side, lot deeper and big snags too. If you get bored with catching Reddies, you can always have a swing on the rope.Few Red Belly Blacks about, tho' they're more interested in keeping out of your way. Might take you up on your fishing offer sometime.
  15. Hey crocka79,left hand pics on my signature are from the Onka, the next ones are from a private Kuitpo Dam and the two right hand pics are of different fish from the same SAFWAA Dam. The biggest one of these got me the SAFWAA trophy in 2007 mate. Be prepared to put a lot of time and effort into catching fish like these. I hunt them almost every week end and when I'm not , I'm planning how to catch 'em. Good luck with the ass kicking, although sheer persistence will always bring you more success than bucket loads of skill and a bag of killer lures. Cheers.
  16. Hey, Pelli, my hot tip is that 3 inch Berkley Gulp with a TT jig head in the Gob of the Gar on my Greediest Garfish thread. Had a number of near 40 cm fish from the Onka on it. I was put on to it by my tackle shop Guru who received a bottle of Wolf Blass Cab. Sav. for his advice. This won't cost you a cent mate :icon_e_biggrin:
  17. It is a tribute to the resilience of the Bream that it keeps coming back in numbers from the enormous punishment it gets from us humans, the greatest polluters of all things natural. One feel good story to come out of this is the completion of the Old Noarlunga sewage system which has done away with the septic tanks which have caused major problems in the past around Old Noarlunga. Another issue is increased vigilancs of the Fisheries dept. with the help of the public, in apprehending illegal nocturnal netters here. The already mentioned closure of the Metro Meat works raised the survival statu
  18. Hey, pretz, have a look at the finesse fly fishing thread, rogerg has some excellent patterns on there. tonyb
  19. :-\ Hey Guys,I'd luv to hear if any one has targetted Mullet on Fly, wet or Dry, or even caught one accidentally while on fly while after other species. When I came to Oz in 1990, I'd come from a lifetime passion for catching Trout on Fly. I was initially frustrated by the lack of opportunity to follow this up but came around to thinking what a brilliant sporting fish the humble Mullet would be with its surface feeding habits and also it doesn't mind a nocturnal snack either.I tried all sorts of dry's and wets on areas of the Onka which were heaving with busily feeding fish with not a touch so
  20. First time I've read this thread and it certainly makes you think a bit more deeply about it. The SAFWAA" President holds bream fly fishing sessions above the bridge every year and always checks with Fisheries before the event in case of policy changes. All of his replies, every year, have been that its OK as long as the Bream are released with due haste and care.Ranger makes a very good point that it really is the Breams space and time. These fish are still prolific before and after closure and my bet is that most fishos are only there for the sport anyway and not too many fish are taken for
  21. Gee that must have been a big disapointment Roger, is it a spot that fishes well normally? I guess you had no luck on the day either Would I be able to Google the lake as I'm unfamiliar with where it is?Cheers Tony.
  22. Hey Crocka79,that's the little baby that took the SAFWAA redfin trophy out this year.1.525 kgs and 46.5 cms long, I brought it home alive so it didn't lose a gram of weight (not just the insurance company's that are fiercely competitive mate), 'course it had to flick itself onto the garden didn't it and dirty its face :. Just need another one like Gyroscopes, or even a bit bigger, to kill off any would be competition from our members ;D
  23. Ooooh... thanks for all the praise guys :icon_e_biggrin: me gonna dig sum more piccies out now 8)
  24. Top class little thread this guys, lots of passion and great advice :icon_exclaim: My two pennyworth is for the Shimano Raider 7ft 6 in two piece. Paid $150 for mine when they were fresh, saw them on sale at Ray and Annes not long ago for $100. Thought I'd get a spare and was telling Yakattack about it when he offered me one for $90 through his store. Just love this outfit for Reddies and Bream. :icon_e_biggrin:
