  3. Horne Waders by a mileIve had mine for 20yrs and still as good as the day i bought themWore them every day when i had to survey the St Kilda Boardwalk many moons ago, but now its just fishingI was at the factory the other day after i broke a clip after i jammed it in the car doorReplaced free of charge  They are located in Wingfield

  4. No way can you fish the Gap PointTOO DANGEROUS just to get down and there is no escape route if in troubleBUTIf you head south - S/E from the car park and look very carefully you might find a star dropper in the cliff. If you have balls of steel you could slide down carefully down the cliff face to a ledge but life would be a lot safer if you tied a sturdy rope and slid down.Im not 100% sure but if you zoom in on google earth you might see what looks like a track down to the ledge. Its also high enough to be safe if the swell risesCaught plenty of sweep etc and salmon from there years ago

  5. Most unusual catch was at Mannum Last yearHad just set the rods on the end of the landing and decided to check the shrimp nets around the neighbors landingAfter checking the nets i was sitting on the neighbors landing enjoying the view and watching the rods with a cold beer when a flock of ducks flew pastOne hit the line and flew away but the line was screaming off I ran to my landing and it wasn't the duck but a fish the duck had hooked when it hit the line. After a 10min fight a nice 6kg carp was eventually landed

  6. 7. My Uncle had 2 lock nuts on each wheelTrailer Lock on the ball and hitchPadlock connecting the chains to the carBut when he went to retrieve his boat one day the car came away from the trailerSomeone took the pin out of his tow bar hitchSo he got a security pin for the tow hitchHis trailer hasn't been tampered with in years since

  8. One got me good the other dayI usually try to get them to get rid of most of their ink before bringing aboardSo i brought it in and could see that it had spat out a lot of ink in the water so straight in the bucket it wentA few minutes later when i was putting another squid in the bucked the squid i just caught a few minutes before let it ripPERFECT HITFace, neck and chest all covered in ink plus the boat got a fair spray as wellNext time ill put a lid on the bucket

  9. Did similar the other day when the tide went slack and started to turn.It was amazing watching the squid competing for the lure.A few times as soon as i took a caught squid off i just dropped the lure next to the boat and i was on again.Great fun

  10. OK guys i need your opinions. What is the best way to drift fishI had a debate last night with a mate I drop the lines straight off the boat and virtually bounce the bottom on one and the other i hold about a metre off the bottomMy mate says that in water under 3mtrs the fish will be spooked so i should cast away from the boat and drag the sinker

  11. As soon as i could walk my grandfather had a rod in my hand And as soon as i could fish by myself he took me on his fortnightly fishing trips to the MurrayWhen i turned 16 and got my license i continued traveling to the same spot at the Murray as well as the odd sea fishingI joined a fishing club in the 80s where i gained experience with different aspects of fishing and enjoyed the competitive side of the sport. But even though there was now a hugh variety of fishing locations i always looked forward to fishing the MurrayThen one day recently it hit meIt wasnt just the fishing It was nature at its best where a man can get away from the day to day crap and be one with nature. There is nothing better than sitting there quietly watching nature as it should be.Then again a few beers and a barbie would just put the icing on the cake :woohoo:

  12. Looking at the fins it can be either a Herring or Minnow SpeciesCaught in Freshwater narrows it down to an Australian SmeltNative TroutMountain Trout MinnowDefinitely has the markings of a Native Trout or MinnowBut the white spots are confusingI would definitely get in contact with the Museum or PIRSA
