  1. Just a reminder for anyone thinking of fishing the Onk for bream.....There is still a Bream ban on from upstream South Road Bridge as they are breeding. let them be to do their thing and we will all have plenty of fish in the onk for years to come.Should still be plenty of St's around the onk mouth on crommies and platics as well.

  2. Your right there Marko, wev'e got it good but our facilities are there as a revenue raiser as well, would love to know how much sullies and glenelg pull per year !!... I think most would agree, "IF" they the government does use revenue raised to improve fishing it would be a good thing. Examples have already been given how it can work, BUT....I would love the just once to use their heads, do a bit of forward planning and assess where the money can go and how it will be used to the rec fishermans benefit, publicly sell the idea and get a positive spin on it from the get go instead of all the negativity. Yes this take money but they are going to be reaping the benefits for years to come let alone the rec fisherman. Very exciting times "IF" things can be done properly, but at the moment...I doubt it very much

  3. If the powers that be study the successes and failures of the other states for their model we could be looking back in 10 years saying "gee what a great idea this was".Or the government could just screw the whole thing up.........

Biggest problem there is as seen at the top of this thread, they have just cut SARDI research and development funds.... who's going to pay for the study now ??? Time and money to make a decision sadly... we have plenty of time but there will be no money allocated to something that the larger parties seem to want to stop or make very hard for people to do.I'll tell you what they are puting time and money into though... how to make more money out of us !
  4. How about we instantly save a mint by not wasting money on a bloody footy/cricket oval!

Only heard on the radio this morning that some minisgters gave "them selves" a 7% payrise costing taxpayers over $300'000 in SA. This was seen as acceptable as last year it was 14% ???? How the hell.... most are luck to get 3% per year !$300'000 spent on a reservoir stocking, ramp, bins, shelters etc.... imagine the revenue it "could" raise !
  5. Here`s the Vic system kiddies' date=' brace yourselves for something similar;http://new.dpi.vic.gov.au/fisheries/recreational-fishing/fishing-licenceBTW, penalties; Not presenting a fishing licence when requested - $100 on-the-spot fineFishing unlicensed - $550 (if hoop or mesh net then $1100)A bit more than a slap on the wrist...[/quote']And exactly how it should be ! We ar starting to see the odd example of fine fits the crime but how many slaps on the wrist can people get ??Can't speak english, get a card written in main languages made up saying you are fined $100 and watch their eyes then !!
  6. Seen this Tony ?? Everything come at a cost. Seems SARDI are in for less R&D, less budget....http://www.strikehook.com/forum/63-off-topic/119171-budget-leaksEveryone else gets less money while we have to pay more ??I'm all for paying a licence ( as long as it goes to stocking, improvements etc... ) but at the end of the day who is going to police it ?? All the departments with authority are losing money which intunr means less time on the beat so to speak. Be great to see some more water ways open up but as LBB has mentioned previsouly, they need to put some time and money into them first to give the people some belief the licences are worth spending money on. With less funding from government... i think I know where the money will come from !

  7. Great work John, sure look purty !Should head to off the bluff on the yak and get ionto some of the big boys, had some upto 1.4 mtrs taking some serious drag last summer... be a real blast on fly !

  8. Having the 2500 sol I looked at the exact same scenario .. versatility across the board. However... You need to look at a ratio of what you are going to be using it for. I certainly wouldn't be using it everyday for snapper fishing but I would for bream, trout and chucking lures around for salmon. It's got the capacity to handle big fish but I still go to another reel for the snapper only sessions. Would hate to loose a 20lb snapper due to the 15.4lb drag failing and damaging the reel after copping a thrashing all day !!If I'm using it for whiting and a snapper jumps on.. fair chance it will handle a bigger fish !At the end of the day 2500 and 3000 both have 7kg of drag and the 3000 series only holds an extra 10 mtrs of line for 20gms more weight.http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/daiwa.cfm?page=reels&reels=realfour&product=tdsol You really need to some up what it's mainly going to be used for and concenrate on that !

  9. Fair price difference in those reels. I would suggest if you don't mind throwing the extra cash at it then it will be a reel for life if you look after it.What will you mainly be using it for ??I went through this recently and ended up with a Sol 2500 due to the extra line capacity and 7kg of drag it offered as well as other features. Simply put, I can use it for bream, trout through to snapper and castin lures from the beach for salmon. Was great down at Browns recently. If I had more money to spend on it at the time I would have probable gone another model or 2 up in the daiwa range, can't fault them !Very happy with the sol though.

  10. Pretty sure theres a re-order option towards the back of the book on the same page as the subscriptions application. All from memory so could be wrong but know I have read it somewhere...As for the reports... it's all seasonal and Shane can't report on everywhere every issue. I'm sure there would be some info in an issue somewhere, besides.... what do you thinks Stikehook is for !

  11. Iv'e got a great record up the coorong with white sp's for st's. Since been out a grabbed a few differnt and my all time favourite is "Glow" in 5" gulp. Did very well with them at Browns not long ago on the salmon
