Hi guys its probably been ask a million times but what lures can I use for bream I am looking to do the onka stompa and I was also wondering if there was any lures I could make at home
-
Yeh the last thing i want to do is when i run out of cockles and am too lazy to go to goolwa it becomes more expensive for me and all you other guys i pity people who take undersized or over fish marine creatures or anything for that matter they give us fishos a bad name
-
sorry about that lads i ment to say 2000 and yeh my uncle is a stickler for size and i still would not want to tae anything undersize anyway (sorry lads should proofread first)

mate' date=' you gotta get down to goolwa , take a few mates, get your limit and theres 6-9 months worth of cockles.i went down at the start of this latest season and still have a few bags left, used some last week to slay some metro whiting.i love the fact that i collected them myself, its a piece of p..s bud, get onto it.nick[/quote']yeh i recently went with my uncle and we collected almost 3000 cockles(there was 6 of us though) its a blast and you can even take your rod down there collect the cockles as you need them cant get fresher than that

yeh i think the guy said when i tried em they were from a farm somewhere in the states not too sure tho and theres not a lot of meat on them either

i currently have mono on all my rods and have never had a problem..... but after going out on my uncles boat who had all braid i found that mono is a lot better for the lighter gear anything below 7lb i find gives me hell with wind knots...... all my life though i have used mono so i guess i like mono more...... dont waste ur time with anything below 7lb apart form different knots tho i havent heard about that they seemed to hold together in about 19 metres of water pulling up about a 5kg fish good luck with what ever u choosetight lines Brock :woohoo:

yeh i dont like going fishing if the budgets tight anyway because it often forces me to get cheap overseas import stuff where as i would like to keep my money in australia and support the community
-
hi all just wondering what ur thoughts are of the import cockles do u like them personally i prefer the goolwa cockles because i like supporting the local industry but there so expensive at the moment
-
yeh went down bout 2;30 it was blowing like anything and went to peter whitings bait and tackle and he recommended some import cockles im not a fan ( i like the goolwa cockles as i find their better) but dad said that we'd give them a go and i got some size six hooks and we just went in the shallows nothing for a good half hour and then all of a sudden we started getting a run of juvenile whiting and then i hooked onto to something with a bit of weight i thought i foul hooked a fish or had a crab then it started giving a few headshakes and then pulled it up and it was a very healthy yellow fin whiting weighing about 250g and that was on the import cockles and put my line back out and we reckon that a dolphin came past and spooked em all off coz there was nothing else all in all pretty good anzac day
