  1. I was fishing for mullies in the port early this am with hb + sp (no luck), when a dolphin showed up, got me thinking, would a dolphin in the vicinity spook legal sized mulloway? I'm unsure whether a dolphin would prey on a fish that large, or would the presence of a larger predator scare a good sized mullie anyway, our would the mullie see the dolphin as competing for the available food source and go on the chew a bit more aggresively? The dolphin being there at least let me know that there was a supply of bait, not that it did me much good. I would be interested to know what people's thou
  2. Brooksey, you should be able to get replacement parts for that reel, I've just come here from the US a month ago so I'm not very familiar with all the local tackle shops, but I'm sure there's one that stocks replacement Abu parts or a shop that's known for sevicing reels, someone else on the board might know or you can probably go to the Abu website and find out where the nearest service shop is located.
  3. If it's an older Abu it will have the crappy fiber drag washers, any water or oil on them and they usually lock right up which means busted off fish, you should be able to replace the washers with the new carcon matrix ones which now come standard in the new Abus, still not as good as a Penn drag but heaps better and a relatively cheap fix!
  4. That 950 should have plenty of backbone for landing big mullies and gummies, the drag washer material that Penn uses is the best in the industry IMO, the Penn will have much smoother and more powerful drag than the Abu 7000 and will take much more abuse on the beach as well.
