  • Squid have been continuing to show up in good numbers from the town jetty, along with a few snook towards the evening. Also from the jetty there are garfish of all sizes have been biting during calmer conditions, as well as a few blue swimmer crabs whilst the tide was incoming. Yellowfin whiting are also being targeted from the foreshore area, biting on worms and prawns. The main wharf has still got plenty of smaller tommies and salmon trout keeping anglers entertained. Whiting catches were good down the Passage and Proper Bay is improving.

Now for what was biting and where:

Sheringa

Anglers have reported salmon up to 1.5Kg on the surf beaches.

Almonta/Gunyah Beach

Patches of salmon have been seen but are not always within casting range. Floating weed has made lure fishing difficult lately.

Farm Beach

Good numbers of King George Whiting and Salmon Trout were caught over the Easter / Anzac break. Some whiting in the high 30cm range were in the deeper water off Gallipoli.

Coffin Bay

FAT snook are being caught by boaties within coffin bay and inside Point Longnose. Whiting and salmon trout are being reported by boaties coming from the brothers.

Tumby Bay

Whiting fishing at the Group was still very slow. Second creek had small numbers of salmon up to 1kg.

Port Neill

Try the jetty for a few squid, which are in reasonable numbers, with best results being sunrise or sunset. Big tommies were around after dark.
