Here is Ari Ralph with a 68cm Flathead he caught near Sir Isaac’s. Very nice catch Ari. We also have Joanna Molloy with a nice Salmon caught at Gunyah on Sunday. Joanna said that she bled the Salmon straight away and it was beautiful on the plate that night.
Now for what was biting and where
Elliston / Sheringa
Try the beaches around Sheringa for a few legal sized king george whiting & flathead. Good catches of mullet and tommies were also reported.
Almonta / Gunyah Beach
Only a few Salmon have been caught over the last week, no reports of big schools have been received for a while now.
Farm Beach
King George Whiting, Squid and some nice Silver Trevally have been caught from the beach and by boaties. Some better size whiting came from around Frenchmans.
Coffin Bay
Plump salmon trout are being caught from within coffin bay, at areas such as the boat ramp and jetty. Whilst pilchard boats were unloading tended to be the prime time to target these fish which were reported up to 1kg, biting on baits and lures. Snook had also been caught by land based anglers fishing in coffin bay and also spotted within kellidie bay. Note that the eastern part of kellidie bay is now a sanctuary zone and can not be fished.
Port Lincoln
Blue Swimmer Crabs seem to be improving with some good sized ones coming from the jetties and boats. Some good size whiting came from local bays especially on dusk.
Tumby Bay
Some good King George Whiting have been caught at the group and the Marina is still a good option for Silver Trevally and Tommies.
Port Neill
The jetty and breakwater has had good catches of big tommies and squid, with best results being returned if anglers are fishing early morning or into the evening. Some good sized Yellowfin whiting are showing up around the beaches, however anglers are having to be persistent to find a feed. Boaties fishing the area are also reporting good catches of king george whiting from drops north and south along with squid. Snook are also being caught by anglers trolling lures.
Arno Bay
King George Whiting are still around while we all wait for the Snapper ban to end.
Cowell
Crabs have been the main target here. Nothing else has been reported this week.
