  • The main wharf had plenty of tommies, salmon trout, and salmon around 1 kg when pilchard boats unloaded. Squid and a few kg whiting were caught from the side arm of the wharf. Shore based anglers scored lots of garfish in local bays. Yellowfin whiting were slow from the beaches. Proper Bay was good for a mixed bag of kg whiting, snook, gar, squid and salmon. A few samsons and kingies were caught out wide, tuna were scarce.

Elliston

The Elliston jetty has had good reports of the usual specimens found in the area such as tommies, garfish, and squid. Locks Well has had schools of salmon in the 2-3kg mark keeping anglers busy, with fish holding close to shore during periods, giving anglers the option of casting lures. A few flathead have also been reported being caught.

 

Sheringa

Try first beach for a few whiting, and the salmon beach has also had decent size salmon holding in the area.

 

Coffin Bay

Point Sir Isaacs had been going well with nannygai and rugger snapper. Gallipoli beach has had good numbers of trevally in the area of decent size, proving good fun for anglers. Some FAT garfish are being reported in the sandhills area. Whiting catches in the bay have been going well, along with some good salmon trout. Out around the Four Hummock’s and Rocky Island there is plenty of tuna and kingies.

 

Port Lincoln

Port Neill

Tommies, garfish, and squid are all in good numbers from the jetty/breakwater. Boaties have also been doing well on whiting.

 

Port Lincoln Anglers Club

10 members of the Port Lincoln Anglers Club attended the sport fishing event with boundaries ranging from Louth bay to Halls bay. The favoured areas fished were the wharf & around Greens bay / point Drummond region. Members fished with 1kg or 2 kg line and a limit of 1 fish per species was allowed.

The overall winner on the day was John Peters with 5 fish on 1kg line for 250.60 points.

The runner up of the day was Heather Hampel with 4 fish on 2kg line for 138.70 points

 

Heaviest fish for the day was a 730gm zebra fish caught by John Peters.

The next club event is this coming Sunday, 13th April for dry land casting at Wangary oval. Leaving the clubrooms at 9am.
