Port Lincoln fishing report 12/02/2015

bjorn2fish
  • The main wharf has had good catch rates of slimy mackerel, chow, smaller salmon trout, and Tommy roughs. For best results anglers were using bait, however most of these species will attack most types of smaller lures.

In deeper waters; good catches of decent sized nannagai are being caught from many locations offshore, along with the odd snapper and blue morwong.

The town jetty and throughout Boston and Proper Bay is returning reasonable results for Blue Swimmer Crabs from anglers dropping nets.

What's biting and where

Elliston / Sheringa

The jetty had some big tommies at night with a few squid and trevally during the day.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

There are some nice looking gutters along the beaches, but from reports, only a few Salmon in amongst them.

Farm Beach

Lots of undersized King George Whiting have been plaguing anglers around Farm Beach. Try deeper water for better fish.

Coffin Bay

Reports of some nice sized King George Whiting from some areas. Fish up to 35cm have been found from around the Ledge area. There are still lots of Tommies, Salmon Trout and Trevally from the Jetty and around the bay. Offshore has seen good runs of Tuna when the weather has allowed boaties to get out. Nannygai, Snapper, Kingfish and Samson fish have also been caught while offshore.
