  • Squid are continuing to be caught in good numbers from local bays and jetties. Garfish have been reported by both land and boat anglers coming from the north shore. We are still getting reports of plenty of fat garfish from the local bays for anglers that target them.

Been fishing lately? If you would like a chance to see your fishing photos in this report please send the details to our new email address: portlincoln@spotonfishing.com.au

Pictures are of local angler Karen Evans with a 3.5kg salmon on cockles at Wisemans Beach and local fishing guru Tom Tierney with a not so local 44lb King Salmon caught in the Alagnak river on his recent fishing trip to Alaska.

Now for what was biting locally and where:

Elliston / Sheringa

Salmon of reasonable sizes are being caught from most beaches in the area. Squid and tommies from the jetties for those anglers willing to get out and do some fishing.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

1.5 to 2.5 kilogram salmon were caught, biting best on pilchards. Algae made spotting schools difficult. Wait for the algae to move from the gutters and the fish seem to move in most times.

Farm Beach

Similar to Gunyah for Salmon. King George Whiting have been hard to find during the day, but they seem to be moving back to the summer bottom.

Coffin Bay

The odd King George Whiting is being reported by land based anglers fishing local jetties and the boat ramp. Plenty of Tommies and some Silver Trevally are around as well.

Port Lincoln
