  • Snapper rock has reports of medium sized squid coming in, being caught late in the day and into the evening. Whiting reports came from Thistle Island, Spalding Cove, Proper Bay, Bolingbroke and Louth Bay. Small Squid were still in good numbers throughout the bays and off the jetties. Salmon trout, tommies and snook are chasing baitfish along the North Shore most afternoons. The main wharf had small tommies and salmon trout.

Now for what was biting and where

Far West Coast

A few reports have filtered through of some mulloway up the far west with fish ranging in size from just over legal up to 20kg. Some big salmon and the odd gummy shark were also reported.

Sheringa

Not a lot to report apart from the odd school of salmon sighted off the beaches.

Elliston

Tommies off the jetty is all we have heard this week.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

2 to 4kg salmon have been found from both beaches with some anglers doing much better early mornings.

Farm Beach

‘Skinny’ but legal whiting are being reported by boaties fishing the area, advising that fish were caught in both deeper and shallower grounds. Garfish can also be caught at times during calmer wind conditions. Reports also came in from land based King George whiting in the farm beach area stretching towards Gallipoli beach.

Coffin Bay

The town jetty has plenty of salmon trout and a few smaller trevally being caught on a range of baits and lures. Reports of squid are also coming in from the jetty, with better results in the early morning or late evening.

Tumby Bay

The group had tommies and king George Whiting, but you may have to move around a bit to find the whiting. Try the marina for some nice size Trevally, the jetty for some Squid, and around the bay for some Garfish.

Port Neill

The jetty and breakwater had Tommies, Garfish, Snook & Squid. The boaties have had good catches of King George Whiting,Red Mullet and Snook. Try the beaches south of town for some nice Salmon around 2kg.

Arno Bay

Plenty of Squid and King George Whiting were about for the boaties. Some Snapper have been showing up in close and out wide.

Cowell

Blue crabs are about but not in big numbers.
