  • Anglers have been reporting decent catches of big garfish, King George Whiting, squid, snook, tommies and Salmon trout from the town jetty.

The main wharf had plenty of tommies, most being on the smaller side, with a few larger fish during the night. Salmon trout, and salmon around 1 kg have been caught while pilchard boats unload, biting on pilchards (obviously) and any bait fish lure. Shore based anglers scored lots of garfish in local bays. Yellowfin whiting were still on the slow side from the beaches. Proper Bay was a bit slow for kg whiting, but gar, squid, salmon, tommies and red mullet were on the chew.

Mixed size salmon were hit or miss along the south coast, Millers Hole had some around 3 to 4kg.

With a busy Easter camping weekend on the way anglers will be trying their luck for whiting, tommies, mullet, trevally etc from First Beach, sweep off the rocks and bigger salmon from the surf.

Tumby Bay

Whiting fishing was hard work at the Group with some getting a feed and some missing out. Red mullet and some snapper were also caught. The jetty had squid and tommies while Second Creek had a few salmon trout.

Coffin Bay

The boat ramp has had king george whiting of legal size, plenty of salmon trout and some silver trevally. Boaties fishing out from Farm Beach have scraped up a feed of kg whiting between the undersized fish. Similar story along Point Longnose to Sir Isaac’s but some squid, gar, tommies and salmon trout can add to the catch.
