Pictured is Jack Jacobs with a solid hammerhead that he caught off a beach North of Tumby Bay. The shark was tagged and released, nice one Jack. Also, best of luck to the members of the Port Lincoln Anglers Club who are participating in the AAA (Australian Anglers Association) National Fishing convention at Wallaroo. Pictured are Stuart Mesecke , Allan Stagg, Annette Brasington & Heather Hampel who are entered in the dryland casting categories. I really like their shirts.

Now for what was biting and where

Elliston / Sheringa

We are still getting the odd report of good schools of Salmon in close on the beaches. Fish in the 4-5Kg range have been caught.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

A few small schools of 2-3 Kg Salmon have been reported this week. Most of the larger fish that have been caught are in the gutters and seem to just be individual fish.

Farm Beach

Lots of small King George Whiting have been caught this week. Most anglers have struggled to get a feed of legal sized fish.

Coffin Bay

Tuna are still providing anglers with great opportunities of catching fish averaging between 7 – 15 kilograms. Good success rates have come from areas including Greenly Island, Rocky Island, Little Rocky and many other offshore locations. Deep diving lures seem to be the go, with Purple and Redhead colours accounting for most fish. Greenly Island has also had reports of some smaller Yellowtail Kingfish, and the odd big Australian Salmon. The Ledge has had good numbers of smaller King George Whiting, just be sure to check their size as any undersized fish need to be returned to the water. Yellowtail Kingfish are also being sighted and caught on the surface using big soft plastics or stick baits.

Port Lincoln

Thistle Island is returning good catches of King George Whiting and Silver Trevally, along with the odd decent sized Yellowtail Kingfish. The Bluefin Tuna have gone a bit quiet this week, but a few have still been caught on deep diving lures. Proper Bay anglers are reporting catches of King George Whiting in very small groups, most anglers are reporting burley was needed to keep them hanging around. Blue Swimmer crabs of good size and numbers are being caught in nets during all times of the day and night. Throughout Boston Bay, boaties are catching decent King George Whiting, plenty of squid, and the odd rugger Snapper. Boaties fishing around the Monument are catching good numbers of smaller King George Whiting, and the odd Blue Swimmer Crab.

The town Jetty is having some Yellowfin Whiting show up during the high tide, plenty of Squid, and Tommies, and a few Garfish during calmer weather conditions. If you happen to be passing through Venus Bay, the jetty has Silver Trevally, and Tommies, along with a few Snook at night. Squid are also doing well by both land based and boat anglers. Boaties are going well on Sand Crabs, King George Whiting, Silver Trevally, and Tommies.

Tumby Bay

The local beach and Jetty have seen some Yellowfin Whiting show up around the high tide. In the marina, there are plenty of Trevally, Tommies and Salmon Trout. There are some good sized King George Whiting out at the Group.

Port Neill

Blue Swimmer Crabs and Squid tend to be the pick of the lot over the past week by both land based and boat anglers.

Arno Bay

Large snapper have been difficult to find, smaller ruggers have been plentiful. The King George Whiting have been good in close and out in deeper waters.

Cowell

Blue Swimmer Crabs have been plentiful. King George Whiting have been reasonable in shallower water.
