  • The town jetty has seen a good run of squid of varying sizes. Smaller jigs in sizes 2.5 – 3 are the go here. The yellowfin have also started to turn up with a good school hanging around the jetty on most days. Garfish were well spread out during the calm weather. King George whiting have been hit and miss locally, with some anglers really struggling and others bagging out easily. Move around a bit and use some burley when you find them. Squid from small to very large have come from local regions. Spalding cove is producing King George whiting and the occasional flathead. Between Stenross boat ramp and North Shields boaties and land based anglers found gar, squid, snook, tommies and Yellowfin and King George whiting.

Now for what was biting and where.

 

Elliston / Sheringa

Locks Well had a few salmon. Elliston jetty had mixed bags of squid, tommies, snook and gar. Beach anglers found gar from Anxious Bay.

 

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

A few anglers have caught the odd salmon up to 4kg from the beaches when the schools are in.

 

Farm Beach

Still getting some reports of good numbers of whiting from Farm Beach. Squid have been reported as consistent and there are still plenty of gar, tommies and salmon trout being caught.

 

Coffin Bay

The jetty, boat ramp and rock ledges had whiting, tommies, mullet and salmon trout.

 

Port Lincoln

Tumby Bay

The group is still on the quiet side of things. The jetty was quiet for squid, but a few tommies were caught.

 

Port Neill

Boaties report that whiting are still quiet but some snapper have been caught. Salmon to 2kg came from Carrow Well’s. The Jetty and breakwater was good for tommies and big squid.

 

Port Lincoln Anglers Club

 

15 PLAC members and visitors fished the Bolingbroke area, enjoying sunny calm conditions. John Peters won the day's competition with 160 points with Mick Kollep runner up with 125 points. Juniors Riley Peters and Stuart Mesecke fished hard to both finish with 115 points. Heather Hampel won the ladies narrowly edging out Julie Bascombe. Fish caught included gar, whiting, tommies, mullet, leatherjackets, flathead, salmon, trevally and rock species. Heaviest fish of the day was a 1.39kg salmon caught by John Peters..
