The local winter fishing seems to be fairly quiet, but it looks like some decent Salmon have finally arrived on the west coast beaches. Pictured is Isabel age 6 with the 58cm flathead she caught at North Shore recently.
Now for what was biting and where:
Elliston / Sheringa
Try the jetty for Tommies, Mullet and Squid Waterloo Bay for King George Whiting. Talia has been good for Salmon, with one weighing in at 5.5 kilos. Try Locks Well for Salmon up to the 4 kilo mark. Sheringa has had Salmon in the 2-4 Kilo range and the first beach has seen catches of King George Whiting, Tommies and Mullet.
Almonta / Gunyah Beach
Good sized Salmon have been caught over the past week.

Squid seemed to have quietened down this past week however they can still be caught from local bays in reasonable numbers. Some good Salmon have been caught from the beaches near Sleaford and the Salmon Hole right through to Curta Rocks. There are reports of some large schools along the coast as well. A few Whales have been sighted along this stretch of coast as well. Try the wharf for Salmon Trout, mullet and Squid. Whiting catches have been ok down at the Passage including the Lumps, Carcass and Taylors areas.
Tumby Bay
Second creek has had reports of many differing species in the area. Salmon trout are being caught in good numbers biting on pilchards and most lures. Squid were also being caught during calmer conditions during the day and into the night. The odd king George whiting and big trevally can also be caught if fishing the high tide. Tumby jetty for Tommies and Squids, the Group has Large Squid, red mullet and patchy King George Whiting, if you are fishing in the bay move around and you should get a feed.
Port Neill
The Boaties have been doing well on the northern grounds with good catches of King George Whiting, Garfish and some large squid. The jetty and breakwater has had Tommies, Garfish, Squid and some Snook. Try the southern beaches for Salmon Trout.
Arno Bay
Whiting and squid are still quite good in the area. Try the local charter operators if you are in the area and want a good feed.
