Pictures are of Darcy looking very happy with a nice whiting and John Baker(a member of the Port Lincoln Marina Hotel Fishing Club) with an estimated 100 pound Sailfish caught in May whilst on a club trip to Vanuatu.
Now for what was biting and where.
Elliston / Sheringa
Try the jetty for Tommies and Garfish. Sheringa has Tommies, Mullet, a few King George Whiting, and some Salmon around 3-4 kilo.
Almonta / Gunyah Beach
Not too many reports from this area, but there should be some salmon around on the beaches.
Farm Beach
We are still hearing reports of quality whiting for the beach and boat anglers. A few boaties have also reported good numbers of squid.
Coffin Bay
The jetty had plenty of mullet to 40cm, salmon trout, whiting and tommies.
Port Lincoln
Squid are still going well from the jetties and shoreline. Smaller quality jigs are still the go here. There are still lots of Tommies around the town jetty. Prawns seem to be the favoured bait. Try Proper bay for King George whiting and some good sized squid. Berley is a must when you locate some fish.
A few just legal snapper have been reported between Louth and Peak Bay in-between undersize fish. King George whiting are picking up with the big tides on the winter bottom.
Tumby Bay
The jetty has had plenty of squid. Second Creek had the odd salmon ranging from 500 grams to 1.5 kg.
Port Neill
The jetty for Tommies and large Squid the boaties have been getting better catches of King George Whiting and some nice Snapper and there is a few Salmon around off the beaches south of town.
Arno Bay
Snapper out wide have been good ranging in size from 38 to 65cm and were hitting 4 and 5 inch soft plastics. Whiting fishing was poor.
Cowell
Bluey’s and whiting were around in reasonable numbers in Franklin Harbour. Anglers chasing snapper found it hard to get a bait past the copious numbers of squid.
