  • Again light winds predicted for the weekend. Mainly SE to NE winds. Tides are a bit slower this weekend which will suit fishing in Spencer Gulf.

METRO
Crabs have been plentiful but the size has been small. Try deeper water even as deep as the Norma should bring better results. Garfish have been doing well off Brighton as well as squid. Out in the boat they vary in size. Better catches have been Brighton, West Beach and Grange. Snook have really turned on this year and while they aren't the best eating fish, when fresh and coated in PANKO bread crumbs they are delicious. Had some we caught at Port Vic on the weekend and they were as good as the whiting (And better for you). Squid are still firing pretty well, as I said Brighton jetty has been doing well so in and around that region is the best areas. Largs is also worth a try out from the Largs Academy. Port river action was slow with small bream and some nice salmon trout near Garden Island to St Kilda. There was a few gar near the section bank along with a few crabs. Mulloway have been thin. West Lakes has some nice size bream along with crabs along the steps very early in the morning. Small mulloway have been caught but struggling to make size.

YORKE PENINSULA
Went over to Port Victoria and things were slow in shallow but some big whiting are out deep SW of the island and at Chinamans Well and past Beatrice Rock. Big snook are in the bay along with some nice whiting. A salmon school decided to add to the action between the island and Point Pearce. My advice is to try near Deadmans for consistant results. Wallaroo has garfish at the magazines along with some squid, whiting are out wider near Walrus point. Also try the shallow areas around Bird for salmon and whiting. Port Broughton has snook, garfish and flathead in the off channels. Whiting have slowed but there is still enough to get a fed. Squid are still plentiful. Moonta and Port Hughes has good garfish at the light and good whiting at Kemps and the Rose Garden. Snapper are still being caught at Jurassic and at Tippira reef for ruggers Hardwick have been doing well on the northern grounds but the trick is to drift. Point Turton reports were slow but there was some nice whiting around north of soutter. The jetty has squid and some nice tommies. Pondi was good for whiting and a few small salmon. Royston head was slow but Dolphin beach had tommies and a few salmon. Edithburgh is doing very well with snapper out wide and around the corner of sultana passage. Whiting are in the bay along with squid but better catches have come from the drops at Coobowie. Stansbury has some crabs and the whiting are doing well near the oyster leases and off the cemetry ground. Squid have been hit and miss but better catches are off the shed. Price has salmon and flathead.

SOUTH
Watpinga still has some nice salmon trout but the bigger ones have slowed. The coorong has some nice salmon trout and mullet with the odd bream coming from the boat ramp jetty. Salt creek has been hit and miss but there is still some mulloway there along with salmon and the odd gummie.

FRESHWATER
Callop have been doing very well from Mannum through to Renmark. Big bend is my choice along with Cobdogla.
