METRO
Whiting catches around West Beach was slow in deep water but there was some nice fish caught in the patches in around the 3-3.5 metre mark. With slower tides this weekend things should pick up out deep. Grange and Semaphore was similar. Squid numbers are still quite good with good catches coming from east of black pole, Semaphore, Grange, West Beach and Brighton. There are a few also east of the farewell beacon in 10 metres of water. Silt grounds has plenty of whiting but size is an issue but if you persist you can get a feed. Crabs are also in the area just inside the Bastard Pole. West lakes has plenty of nice bream and some small mulloway in the upper reaches. some mullet are still around on the beaches and West Lakes but they are slowly thinning out. Garfish should start to move onto the beaches this month so keep an eye out as they will be big red beakers. Port River had a few mulloway caught near the Quarantine station and salmon trout are still hanging around the north arm and wrecks. St Kilda seen some nice bream caught along with the odd salmon trout. Flathead are still being caught off the beaches at Webb and Thompsons and there is also some nice crabs there.

YORKE PENINSULA
A flotilla was held at Port Hughes on the weekend where lots of people got stuck into the whiting. Lots of bag limits came in every day. Squid are also in the area but the snapper were non existent. Wallaroo has improved with nice whiting coming from the tyre reef , north of Point Riley and the Magazines. Some nice ruggers came in off the rocks about 6-7 kms north of Riley. Port Broughton still has whiting near the wreck and there has been some nice salmon caught in the channel. Snapper catches have improved out from Broughton on the wrecks west. Port Victoria was slow last weekend but with the slowing tides this place really picks up. Moon phases are important hear where it is best before the new moon or 4 days after the full moon. South of Wardang has some snapper starting to filter up but at the moment they are only ruggers upto 4kg.

Hardwick bay still has nice size whiting and squid in shallow. Point Turton has been slow but the locals are still scoring a feed out from Soutter. Salmon are still around at Berry Bay and the dust hole and of course Browns Beach. Smaller fish are still being caught at Butlers. Edithburgh has whiting north of the island and along the edges of the sultana passage. Jetty fishing has also been good in the area with tommies and squid.

Snapper are mainly coming from the Marion Reef area. Port Vincent has some nice bream in the marina and some nice whiting often sit near the wharfe. Stansbury has whiting and squid and a couple of snapper came from out wide. Ardrossan has a few snapper east of the wreck and south, squid are being caught off the jetty and south of the jetty in the boat. Salmon are near the BHP jetty but seals can be a problem. Seals have also moved up to Clinton and they are creating havoc and it is time for something to be done as it is getting out of control.

SOUTH
Waitpinga still has plenty of salmon. Had no reports on the weekend of any tailor caught but they must be around. A few people braved the salt creek area and did well on salmon and a few gummies in the gutters north of the 42 mile.

FRESHWATER
A couple came into the shop saying they had an encounter with a huge cod. The cod swam right up to the shallows and just sat there. They tried to get it back to deep water but it looked like the fish was either sick or dying of old age. They estimated it to be well over 100 LBS. Sad! Callop are still being caught around Blanchetown, Castles Landing and Renmark. A couple of guys headed of to Mildura and scored some nice cod. They were released.

For more information call into the shop and we will help out where we can.
