Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 10/06/2015

  • Fine weather and light winds are predicted for this weekend and fish are biting :)

METRO

Plenty of good size mullet are coming from the Brighton jetty along with squid early morning. The other jetties should have a similar result as the mullet keep in the warmer waters around metro. Grange tyre reef, the Bag ground and Norma wreck have some whiting with better catches coming from the southern grounds out from Glenelg and off Sellicks Beach. Mullet and bream are coming out of West Lakes along with the odd schoolie. Port River has been great for the salmon trout as well as St Kilda. St Kilda also has bream in the channel. Whiting pods are north of the Black Pole out from Pt Gawler in shallow waters of 3-4 metres. Squid are still quite strong out from Largs, North Haven, Semaphore, west of Black Pole, Glenelg, West Beach and Marino. Nice sice flathead have moved onto the sand flats around the section bank. Snapper are being caught out wide from North Haven about 20 kms west.

YORKE PENINSULA

Nice salmon continue to be caught at the mouth of the Price Creek and near the BHP jetty at Ardrossan. The pros have been scoring good catches of snapper out from Ardrossan so there should be some for the amateurs as well. Best areas are north east of the barges and south of the barges. Whiting season is now in full swing with good catches coming from Wallaroo (South and off the tyre reef), Port Hughes (Near Coopers), Port Victoria (Moorara wreck and North of Rocky), Balgowan (North near the cliffs), Point Turton and Edithburgh (North of island and in bay). Snapper are still coming from Port Hughes west of the light and some out wide from Balgowan. Squid are pretty well everywhere but best places are Port Hughes, Wallaroo, Pine Point and South of Ardrossan. Port Broughton is still doing well for whiting and nice salmon trout in the channels.

SOUTH

Nice salmon is still being caught from Waitpinga and Parsons off the rocks. Salt Creek has salmon and the Coorong has salmon trout, mullet and pesty seals.

FRESHWATER

Only news was from Renmark where there is still plenty of callop being caught.
