  • Weather on the weekend is not too bad with light to moderate SE to S winds. So get out early to avoid the sea breezes.

METRO
Brighton is still doing well on the squid and garfish including the jetty early mornings. Semaphore and Largs has plenty of garfish but are slow to bite. Try different baits like silverfish and even tommie flesh as an alternative to gents and try going deeper with your rig. Crabs are doing well around Semaphore, Largs, Silt Grounds and north around Port Gawler and beyond. Size is still a bit of a problem but there is some big ones in amongst them. Our customers have been doing well on the Koota Heads and the new Pilchards we have due to their high oil content. Whiting have been slow but there is still a few around while your getting garfish and crabs. Don’t burley too much though. Yellowfin whiting have move into the gutters along the metro coast. The early morning high tide is best also keep fishing the out going as well. Tennyson, semaphore and the northern beaches have been doing well. The wormer that supplies tubeworms has been seeing big schools when digging. Probably chasing a free meal when he digs. Port river has some nice bream around the wrecks and mangroves in the North Arm along with a sprinkle of salmon trout. There has been some kings spotted in the river but no reports of hookups. Live squid would be the best for them if your going to try. Some mulloway have been caught around the Quarantine station and near to Pelican Point power station. West lakes has some nice bream and some small mulloway. Crabs are still around the steps and shallows very early mornings.

YORKE PENINSULA
Whiting catches in the Spencer Gulf continue to bite with the best areas to fish are Wallaroo south near Walrus Rock, Port Hughes off Kemps and the Rose Garden, Balgowan north out from the cliffs, Chinamans Well out from the reefs, Port Victoria at Messengers and north of Beatrice, Edithburgh in the bay and out north and south of the island and Hardwick Bay and north, Soutter should also be worth a try including just around the corner off the beach in the sand patches pass the weed line . Garfish are biting well at the Port Hughes light, Wallaro and Bird Island, Port Broughton and some off Waroona at Port Pirie. Port Pirie also has crabs near Waroona and some nice yellowfin whiting in the channel mouths of the river. Crabs are really firing around Port Broughton, Wallaroo and Port Hughes with some off the spit at Port Vic. Other areas have a few crabs but the size varies like Ardrossan, Black Point and Port Vincent. Snook are in huge numbers around Port Vic, Port Hughes, Hardwick Bay and in the bay at Turton. Squid numbers have slowed but there are still some nice catches coming from Port Hughes, Wallaroo, Pine Point, Rickaby and south of Ardrossan. Marion bay has some nice squid and tommies with quite large tommies coming from Editburgh, Stansbury and Butlers.

SOUTH
Waits still has some salmon trout along with the odd salmon at night near the reef. Goolwa Beach has cockles of better size east of Goolwa and ther has been some Bronzies caught off the beach. Salt Creek still has mulloway with a customer went early in the week for only 1 mulloway and 3 gummies in 3 days. He was still happy. The big tuna have been slow down the south east but they are still spotting schools and lots of baitfish. Coorong has been slow but there is still some mullet and a few salmon trout around off the island beaches.

FRESHWATER
The water levels have calmed a bit in the river and some nice callop came from Mannum and Big Bend area with some fish near the cliffs south of Blanchetown. Still no signs of yabbies but there is still good numbers of shrimp.
