METRO

Some hits and misses last weekend with people prepared to move around got good hauls of whiting. Good fish are coming from West Beach down to Brighton with fish around the 38-40cm mark. Fish at least an hour before the turn for best results. Move around prior and mark where your getting the odd one or two so that you can get ready for the slowing of the tide when they tend to come on. Silt grounds and Cabbage patch had whiting also but in small spurts, Semaphore and Bower Road grounds were slow last weekend but with big tides this shjould improve. Snapper catches came from out wide of North Haven about 20 kms north west.

Some nice ruggers came from the Outer Harbor breakwater and one lucky person got one around 5kg in the Port river near Pelican Point. Brighton saw just small ruggers. Crabs are still out from Semaphore but in deeper water from 6-7 metres deep. Squid were slow last weekend but the water is clearing and should come back on. Best squid spots are out from Bower road in 7 metres, Brighton, out from West Beach ramp and Largs. There are still plenty of mullet of the local beaches from Tennyson to Brighton and off the beach at Sellicks. Some nice salmon trout are coming from the Port River and St Kilda. Best spot has been at the end of the outer breakwater at Outer Harbor. Mulloway have been slow but should pickup with the tides. Big fish have been caught at Pelican Point and a few smaller ones are now coming from the wrecks in the north arm.

YORKE PENINSULA

Snapper are still out from Ardrossan but not in big numbers but still worth the trip. Nice whiting are coming from Wallaroo, Port Hughes, Port Victoria,Edithburgh, Stansbury and Point Turton. Corney Point has whiting in shallow. Snapper catches have improved off Port Hughes and Balgowan. The Tiparra Reef also has some nice size ruggers and a few garfish. Squid are in good numbers off Pine Point, Port Hughes, Port Victoria and west of Soutter in shallow. Salmon catches are improving at Browns Beach and Pondi has a few moving in off the beach to the right along with the odd big king george whiting mixed in. Mullet catches have still been good at the foot of the Yorkes along with some nice tommies. Those venturing out from Marion Bay and Pondi have been getting some nice Nannies and Samsoms have started to show up near Wedge. There is still some tuna around but they are out wide towards KI.

SOUTH

Waitpinga Beach really fired up with some nice salmon. One customer came back for more lures after being smashed by a big school on Friday and was keen to get back there Saturday afternoon for another sesh.

Parsons Beach should also be similar. Myponga still has salmon late in the afternoons but fish are only around the 1-1.5 kilo range. Salt Creek was relatively slow last weekend but there was still some salmon to be had.

This weekend should improve with smaller swell and bigger tides.

FRESHWATER

Renmark seems to be the place for nice Callop where there was some good catches last weekend using night crawlers. There is still a few around the big bend area but it is slowing.
