Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 25/06/2015

  • With the high sitting over us over the weekend will make it a cracker weekend to get out onto the calm seas.

METRO
Whiting have been biting very well with the best spots being St Kilda to Black Pole, Semaphore Reef, Grange and West Beach. Last weekend saw lots of bag limits come in along with some near bag limits especially at the Black Pole. Squid numbers are still there and some nice gar are still being caught out from Largs and inside the section bank. Port River action was good with a few mulloway in the lower reaches and salmon trout cruising around the north arm and through the channels towards St Kilda and outer harbor. Snapper are well worth a try in the shipping channel while the bloodworms are around. June run was slow but late July should see the big run so the fish will hang around till then.

YORKE PENINSULA
Whiting are definately in full swing on the Yorkes with nice fish coming from Kemps at Port Hughes, Magazines at Wallaroo, Goose Island at Port Victoria, in the shallows north of Hardwick Bay, the bay and north of island at Edithburgh, Cemetary ground at Stansbury and south of sheaoak. Port Broughton was still doing well on the whiting also but haven't herd if they are still biting after the bloodworm run. Snapper are out wide off Balgowan and there are still nice schools out from Ardrossan. Salmon schools are at Browns, Pondi, Dust Hole, Butlers and south of Edithburgh.

SOUTH
There are still nice salmon off Waitpinga and plenty at salt creek. Salt creek also has some nice gummies in the bigger gutters.
