ospray 1
Not sure where to put this postWhere abouts is the best place to get boat insurance, and which gives you the best service for your money, mine is due again next month and well over the $400 mark. who has had dramas with their insurance company over claims ? :icon_e_surprised:
Ranger 48
I looked at a few, with most prices being pretty similar.Club Marine has the reputation and the majority of the market. It's cheaper if you opt not to get the magazine, and ya can also lessen the cost by including a "lay up" period if ya dont use the boat all year round. YoBBo 0
I just renewed mine, and did a lot of shopping around.SGIC were the cheapest by far, but only cover boat, motor and trailer.I ended up with RAA this year. They were only a fraction dearer, but they cover extas like sounders, GPS, safety gear etc. When you add it all up, it would cost a small fortune to replace all the extra gear. Guest dabilda
I have mine with Club Marine, was $274, no lay up, all safety & fishing gear covered, gps & sounder covered, also got a 10% discount for organising it all online. That was August 31 last year, might have gone up a bit now (like my car insurance has:( ).Also depends what your boat is valued at, I put 8k on mine because that's what I payed for it all.I went with Club Marine because they specialise in boats, I read through a few other policies prior to making the decision and some clauses of things that weren't covered made Club Marine by far the best option. Ranger 48
when I smashed my sounder I wanted to claim for a new one,, but they don't replace old for new. By the time the unit was depreciated it wasn't worth claimingThese are the interesting bits which ya dont always realise until it comes time to make a claim. Also why it's important to examine policies carefully, ask questions, and make sure you're comparing apples with apples when it comes to insurance packages, to make sure you get a package which suits you, no necessarily the cheaperst either. What do they consider to be the lifespan of a sounder and GPS?What is the total value they'll place on accesories? Is ya fishing gear included in the package? Is there a maximum limit placed on fishing tackle?Do ya rods depreciate?Do ya get a choice of repairer? Is transit damage included? Are you covered for fire?Do they have a lay up period?Etc, etc, etc! There's a lot of ins & outs to insurance that ya dont normally consider until it's too late. YoBBo 0
Club Marine is an agent for Alianz insurance. I have had major grief with Alianz.RAA did cover my sounders etc, and u have to give the value in the policy.Fishing gear is NOT covered in the premium, but RAA house insurance will cover your fishing gear, even if its stoled from your boat.Like Ranger said, its worth shopping around. My premium cost $280 for a cover of $13800.I hope this helps.
