MBPP - Senate Committe Review

Recommended Posts

ALERT SUPPORT SENATOR BOSWELL’S MOTION As many of you will be aware the Marine Bio-Regional Planning Process is in complete disarray with secret meetings, back room deals, confidential maps, appalling process and science that simply does not exist. We have been pushing for nearly 2 years to have the MBPP opened up and made more transparent and science driven, by sending it to a House of Representatives or Senate Committee. NOW WE HAVE OUR CHANCE.We have NEVER disagreed with the structural foundation of the MBPP as implemented. BUT we do have serious concerns with how the Rudd and Gillard Government’s have bastardised the process for political currency to appease the Greens and fringe environmental groups. Moreover, the independent science tells us that under the current process the environment will be worse off.Make no mistake, this issue effects state waters and state marine policy and will adversely impact small coastal communities. REGARDLESS OF YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS PLEASE SUPPORT SENATOR BOSWELL BY EMAILING MINISTER BURKE AND SENATOR GLENN STERLE ASKING THE ALP TO SUPPORT THIS MOTION TOMMOROW IN THE SENATE. THIS MUST BE DONE TODAY OR FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING!!!YOU CAN EMAIL MINISTER TONY BURKE ON tony.burke@environment.gov.au OR CALL ON (02) 6277 7640ALSO EMAIL SENATOR GLENN STERLE’S OFFICE ON Senator.Sterle@aph.gov.au OR CALL (02) 6277 3615IF WE DON’T DO THIS WE WILL BE LOCKED INTO A PROCESS WE DON’T AGREE WITH FOR 10 YEARSPASS THIS EMAIL AROUNDIT REALLY IS TIME TO MAKE A STAND FOR SOUND PROCESS
