Dont know if this specific thing on the Trawler has been posted yet, but the person who put out the potician against it sent out this email. PLEASE READ AND SIGN UP.Dear friends, Thank you for signing the petition to stop the super trawler FV Margiris from fishing in Australian waters. Over 21,000 people have joined this call for action – an awesome response in a short time! The Margiris has left Holland and is on its way here. The trawler has applied to be flagged Australian but has not yet received approval, nor has it been approved as the fishing vessel for Seafish’s quota. A group of 5 delegates from environment and recreational fishing groups held an urgent meeting with Fisheries Minister Joe Ludwig in Sydney two days ago about the threats the Margiris currently poses to our fisheries, marine environment and fishing. Minister Ludwig’s response suggests we need to do more to stop this trawler in its tracks. Please help us get Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s attention on this issue!
