Hugh1 0
Hiya everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knows if I can use a fly as bait with a standard rod. Not a fly rod. I have been given a box of flys and also started making my own. If u can fly with a standard rod and reel what kind of setup should I use? I would like to be flying for trout and redfin if it can be done. Thanks in advance for your time.
archerfish 685
G'day Hugh1Have tried a couple of times with a fly tied below a bubble float (to give some casting weight).Didn't catch anything, but in theory this should work if the fish are co-operative... Hugh1
Hugh1 0
Thanks mate. Is there any way of actually using fly line on a eggbeater ?
archerfish 685
IMHO, no point in doing it. Fly line for fly reels and rods only, I would think.
tonyb 1,017
A team of flies on a bubble float is so effective, mostly at night for trout, that the method is banned on most waters in the UK    http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/bubble.htm
Hugh1 0
Thanks people. I will learn to fly eventually. I had a look at the bubble float and fly idea. Looks like a plan for now. Might have to try that out. I'm always open to new ways of fishing.
