Billfish Burgess 0 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Share Posted November 14, 2012 Fishing edithbergh via boat, anyone had any luck targeting flathead in the surrounding grounds, or just caught a few fishing for whiting and snapper ect. Cal 480 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Share Posted November 14, 2012 G"day Bill,if specifically targeting them,try fishing over the shallow sand/weed patches and channels with a paternosta rig a dropper about 2ft above the lead , 3/0 gang hooks baited up with pillie or a nice shiny gar fillet or tommy fillet trimmed up into a long strip.Cast and very slowly retrieved, and keep moving around covering plenty of area .Around the Sultana point channel marker area.Have seen some monsters come out of this area.Bit hard to dedicate ones self to actually do this because the urge for snaps and whiting takes up a lot of effort,but can be rewarding for those willing to give it a crack. .
