shaw76 0
Hi there im heading down to salt creek end of month and was thinking of casting out some big baits for anything toothy swimming by. Is it worth trying or just stick to the usual baits. Like to know of good berley mixes too if u can help. Never really had any luck down there out of the 2 times ive been. So I must be doing something wrong. Am good at catching sand crabs down there though
plankton 725
always worth a shot, if you use a clip down rig you can cast a bigger bait like a whole squid head or salmon slab a decent distance, if you want to get an even bigger bait out you can use a slidebait rig, also handy for livebaits storm boy
Rybak 622
Berley is easy. Onion bag filled with fish frames, pellets, mushed up pilchards, tuna oil & anything else in in the bait freezer thats old. Also a long pole/stick to hold your berley bag in the surf wash & a rubber mallet..For big baits as mentioned above but also attach either a surf popper or rubber or hard body lure above your bait. This way when reeling in to change baits you always have something in the water to entice a bite.
