Matt94 0
hello all, just wondering if the leader should be heavier than the main line or the main line should be heavier than the leader? cheers!
projoe 261
I think more info required here eg; species being targeted, where, what terminal tackle being used, etc ie; spinning for bream if using braid the leader can be stronger than the braid 4lb braid 6lb leader. I personally prefer 8lb fluro carbon leader. if fishing for kg's out in the gulf you could use 15lb to 20lb braid main line & 10 TO 15LB leader line.

projoe 261
sorry was doing an edit when you posted again. if bait fishing i used to use 6lb (3kg) for main & leader in a clear brand of mono like platypus super 100.
Tinker 1,645
For bream fishing I like 4 or 6lb braid for easy casting distance, and 8 or 10lb flouro leader for abrasion resistance. I find that a 10lb leader lets go before 4lb braid, however for finicky fish you might need to drop to a 4 or 6lb leader, especially using soft plastics. I always carry a few different line weight leaders, heavy for salmon, and light for bream which are the 2 species I mainly target in the salt.
