johnwalkley 24
hey just a quick one, went away this weekend and did a bit of touring sa, was good got out and caught heaps of legal snapper, heaps of 2-3lb salmon on fly dozens of good 70+cm snook on fly. and also got a heaps of tommies. also managed to get some whiting on poppers too, thewy are so agressive when they hit its crazy, anyway i managed to drop about 4 good flatties, this one however hooked up good on a lead eye clouser. casted out landed in 4foot of water and i started to strip it in straight away and felt some weight, thinking weed already i stripped hard, then he went off. put up a great fight on the 7wt! first flatty on fly at over 55cm. johnwalkley 24
at times i had 3 or 4 of them porposing behind the popper. they were nuts and the water was cold too not hot like they say is good for it. i just bloop for half the retrieve then a small pause (this is when i got most of them ) then continue bloobing

grubb 0
That's a very nice flattie, well done. I haven't had a whiting on a popper yet but I have had gar going ballistic and attacking my popper fly. Perhaps I should tie some smaller poppers and get myself a feed of gar.Cheers, Dave.
