Russ 0
In another move to aid the fragile river ecosystem, the State Government will pay a bounty of $4.50/kg for European carp carcasses, to help improve the environment of Lake Albert and the Lower Lakes. Southern Fishermen's Association president Garry Hera-Singh, said the Lake Albert area would have become a "stinking mess" from "hundreds and hundreds of tonnes" of dead carp if the Government had not issued the bounty. Fisheries Minister Paul Caica said the lake level was expected to drop in coming months while salinity levels and temperatures were expected to rise, leading to widespread death of the fish population. Above is a quote from the Adelaide now email site. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it for anyone? there was a suggestion "for Proffesional fisherman" does that exempt the average jo? Does the government not realise that with a campaign like this opened to the average fisherperson on many carp affected waters there could be a real dent in the plague that is the european carp in SA.
