Goldys_Fishin 0
Hi All, How are you? Hope the fishing is well...I know in the eastern states they catch some bream species around oyster nets. But i just wanted to know if fellow bream people here in SA have had any success around the oyster nets here???Cheers Goldy
benny 1
Dont think anyone has tried have noticed in sa the bream arent in the same enviroments as the oysters grow in. I used to work on an oyster farm and never saw any bream... plenty of whiting, crabs and rays though.
coonta kinta 1
Ok, I'm no expert on this, but I think the thing to remember about the East coast & SA Oyster Leases is the fact that unlike our Eastern cousins, our oysters are not grown in estuary's and as I understand it, healthy bream populations are centred around areas that have fresh water entering the estuary's that support those populations. Dont know alot about how leases are set up either, but could the fact that the bottom composition here may also be different to those in the East and that ours are not in "recognised" bream areas? Goldys_Fishin 0
Yeah that makes sense, thanks guysGoldy
benny 1
But on the other hand... the local bream populations love the mussell beds
Ranger 48
As well as not having the oyster leases here, and the fact that we don't have the Yellowfin Bream found on the East coast, have ya also noticed that the Bream here don't seem to hang around boat hulls the way they do on the East Coast?
