  1. I have been using Blackmagic KL 1/0 circles for the last 18 months. These have been lethal on whiting! However, over the last month or so I have snapped 3 hooks, with two more of my fishing mates having the same problem.Bad batch or have they changed something in the design material? Interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem? 18 months with no issues, seems a bit strange this has started happening in the last 6 weeks! Going to try the Owner circles. CheersC85

  2. Good read gents. Dont I feel young and inexperienced now!Spent a little bit of time with my mates fishing jettys and the beach during my teenage years. Although I think there were more beers drank than fish caught. Met some like minded people and been fishing the last three years regularly (Im only mid 20s). Spent alot of time on the torrens chasing carp when I lived near by, Snapper down south, whatever i can catch in west lakes and have done a trip to rocky and greenly to tackle something a bit bigger.Something I enjoy both by myself and with mates to relax. :boot:

  3. this 'watering down' of marine parks plan was most certainly part of the plan the whole time ;)I can't think of an easy way to explain so consider the following:think of it like this' date=' you are 15 and I want you to go to bed at 9pm. So I tell you you must go to bed at 7pm (obviously totally unreasonable, like banning 90% of the coastline). you whine and complain saying its not fair and that all your friends stay up until 10pm (most other states have no such no take zones etc) to watch their favourite shows... so I 'compromise' and say 10pm is too late (you have to have SOME no take zones), but I will allow you to stay up until 9pm (I will reduce the number of no take zones from my original proposal).I win, but to you it seems like you win, it was my plan all along that you go to bed at 9pm. (It was my plan all along to have SOME no take zones, but not all that I originally told you about).I can almost guarantee you that the government never intended to fully implement the original plan, PIRSA or SARDI(under PIRSA) even said DENR's science was flawed in its planning.Something to think about anyway.[/quote']Great post and spot on  . It's a common tactic used all the time (not just in politics) and its amazing how often it works. Make a bid that is 30% higher than what you really want/expect - this creates fear, confusion and uncertainty. The oposing party explains why this is unrealistic using basic facts and both parties settle for somewhere in the middle (which is of course, closer to the original desire of the government). There is a reason this was released two days before the meeting, make sure you attend and drag along as many people as possible.
  4. Bit of an eye opener' date=' i wear waders but only go out up to my knees- low thighs, now will be very careful, i bought them cheap and sometimes womder if a good pair of gum boots would be better, i gave up jetty fishing after never catching anything,[/quote']I only started surf fishing a year or so ago and have been wearing them - def a bit of an eye opener for me as well. I dont see the point in wearing them on a boat though?:silly: ? I just make sure I never turn my back on the waves and only go in about knee deep. Its more for warmth than anything.
  5. Its been good to me on big KG but more so in winter/autumn than now.If you have a sounder use it and look for low reefs in 12-15 metres and use beaten squid for bait.In summer try in close 1km to the south for a few KG but not many. cheers brenton

KG seem to be a better winter/autumn target down there, dont get much after mid October. Although it might just be that the target is something bigger in the warmer months :)
  6. Gents,Have just bought some flurocarbon leader and I'm having trouble tying it to the braid on my reel. The knots I have been using dont seem to hold it (keeps sliding). Any suggestions on which knot to use? Have been searching youtube but cant find anything that works.Apologies if there are other threads on this. (I tried the search function)Cheers:)

  7. Good point Skudded. If your not really in the fishing community you may not know about the ban (having said that, if your at the stage where you own a boat i dont think there is an excuse!). Thinking back a few years ago where me and a couple of mates would go up the coast for the night - fishing was just something we would do - getting pissed and playing beach cricket, soccer and swimming were much higher on our to do list. I didnt read any forums, fishing reports and had never walked into a tackle shop in my life. If I caught a snapper off the jetty there during November I probably would have kept it as we wouldnt have known any better? (not that thats an excuse...)

  8. I am personally involved with this change and am very excited by it!!

Not to put too fine a point on this but who made you the official voice of the rec fishing community? You certainly do not have my support
I'm a bit of a fence sitter on the issue as i dont know enough about the success / failures of a RFL in other regions - but as i said a few pages back, it seems its a vocal minority pushing for it...
