    Surf Rod

I go fishing weekly and have caste'd this rod thousands of times with heavy sinkers and baits, it's never let me down and I couldn't imagine it breaking at the tip either. I also own a Emblem Surf 10ft 3-6 oz and they also come in a 5-7oz 12ft. The Emblem Surf cast's well and would never snap! I know this because I forgot to pull my handbrake when I parked my car and had my rods on the bull bar! When I closed my barn door the car rolled forward and was stopped by my Emblem Surf rod and the Basham's carpark fence! It snapped a reel like a twig but left my rod looking like a bow until I backed t

    Surf Rod

Yip Saltiga5. I've got a similar Carbon Saltiga Surf rod 11ft 5-8oz and it's gun once you get used to it. I would highly recommend them for big bait's. Here a pic of ray that I caught using it, she handled it no probs and it's caught plenty of fish since.

    Fly Advice

Hey everyone I've just brought my fist fly rod and reel and was heading over to Vic to test it out on some trout. I've had little experience with fly gear and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I'm heading to Toolondo, I was there last week and the trout where going off around 5.30pm, they where smashing insects on the surface, around where there was a small deep ledge. What type of fly would be good for this? What would be some basic Fly pointer's to help a beginner out.Cheers

    Ballooning

I found out how to tie the rig but it's a bit tricky. You need one of those tennis balls that has a eyelet which elastic threads through it. They are from tennis trainer's. From your main line tie a 3 way swivel to it. Then cut 2 long traces and tie each trace on either end of 3 way swivel . On the end of one trace have your hooks then on the other trace have you tennis ball (float). The benefit of this rig is it's got twice the depth for you bait and you can get a great cast. But I'm yet to try it, the tennis balls are $8 each and I haven't come up with a way to make them myself. Keeping them

  13. I want to start ballooning out, I,ve herd there is some type of rig you can use with a tennis ball. Does anyone use this rig or just the simple balloon? Whats a good way to tie a balloon rig? Do you use a large glow stick at night? Cheers I want to start ballooning out when I have a good offshore wind surf fishing.

  16. Cheers, I was pretty stoked. Nice work on the ray Jack :cheer:
  17. We went down to west beach boat ramp to get some live bait with lovesafish the other day, but not much was around. So I went down to the beach with my 12ft Saltiga rod and through out a pilly, then sit back and relax on the sand. My mate was out on the breakwater and hooked into a few small st's. I got a big run on my rod, witch I had 30lb mono with a emblem pro reel. Any way after 45 min or so and so aerobatics's, I caught and released my first Eagle Ray off the metro beaches. It was a fight to remember

  19. Cheers, That seems logical and a lot of fun at the same time. How do you get helium canisters and where from?
  20. What differs for normal ballooning to Helium ballooning, does the balloon sit out of the water? Or does the Helium make it more buoyant? This has been in the making for sometime this trip , just saving for a new 4wd and 4wd trailer. Cheers for your help Jim :cheer:
