  1. Yeah try to stretch your budget a bit and invest in the old shimano baitrunners. Ive had the Okuma Salina Baitrunner in the past and it was junk although the lifetime warranty did come in handy after the stem broke while fighting a fish, and when the baitrunner function failed to engage/disengage numerous times while out in the field.

  2. +1 for the Saragosa for under $400I've used it before great drag and thats what you need for these crazy fish. It's got the Dartanium drag which is good quality and will last and when it does die you can option up to Carbontex. And for the braid question: I never heard of that brand before but why dont you stick to whats been brilliant to you, especially if your going for kingfish. I wouldnt go under 50lb but thats just me. Hope that helps. goodluck

  3. FSW.. seems like you need a 8-9ft rod with 30lb rating with a Certate 3500!pjohn- have a look at the Seajigger 325 might be what you're looking for' date=' not a 12 footer but more versatile.ahhh so much good tackle out there and so little money :S[/quote']Mate having never seen a sea jigger' date=' Im really interested. Do you think I could use one of these to cast a lightly weighted full pilly or a whole tommy or shitty off the rocks for big reds.Could you put a small snapper lead and a decent bait on it and still get good distance??:cheer: . I just really wanna know if the lead and bait will really overload the tip and risk snapping it off...or will it be fine?My aim would be to use a Certate 4000 Hyper :woohoo: with 20lb Nitlon off the stones/beach.[/quote']You certainly could mate. I've been eying one for ages.. They were primary designed for lure fishing with all the light weight components used but of course can be used with bait fishing. There's the 305, 315 and 325 for various weights and line classes. I had a feel with one a while back and its top quality nice and light.Nah wouldn't overload the tip and snap it off as long as you're within the recommended casting weight, that goes for any rod. If I do get it I'll be getting the 305 with Certate 3500hd with 20lb braid. Thatll handle your kings, mullies and whatever you want. And Damn the hyper is $$$$$
  4. I'd go for braid if your after maximum capacity on your spool, although I'm not sure whether the Penn Spinfishers are braid-friendly so you might wanna check. I use a Penn 560 Live liner for Mulloway and sometimes the braid gets caught in the line roller so I switched to mono just for that reel. Also if it gets caught in the line roller it can do damage to your braid.Nothing wrong with mono if your chasing Mulloway, its not like you have to feel every little nibble cuz we all know Mulloway just smashes it and go.Platypus is good yea and I personally use Daiwa Sealine lol old school but I love it.Go braid if your reel supports it

  5. Hey mate good day. I really hate this line, I first tried 20lb Technium because it was recommended to me by a reputable tackle shop and it is absolute crap.(cant believe they even recommended it to me) Don't even bother using this to chase Mulloway. Invest in some good braid rather than risk losing a big mully on this line.Just use an Arbor Knot to attach the line to the reel, I had no problems doing so.

  6. The concrete slabs that hold the bridge up in the middle, it creates a pressure wave and you can actually see the effect. water flow there is minuscule mate. Beats me why they hang around there bloody weirdos haha. I've tried lures there x-raps to sp's to no avail....yet, but thats just my luck..I was itching to go tonight too but the rain aint stopping!

  7. yeah must be true because when I had that big hook up it was dead quiet plus the moon was nice and full.About 6 weeks back I spotted about 4 mullys(2 big ones) cruising up and down the bridge at night around 10pm. This is interesting because they cruise where the pressure wave is and along the shadow of the bridge. For what reason I have no idea But they wouldnt even take any lures or fillets that I chucked at them. And they were they're for a good 3 hours. . But I rekon if you can see em you cant catch them. Anyway something to observe I guess. Also if you do go to the bridge and someone is already there you can try the next bridge just a bit further down the road, its just as good.Laters!

  8. Hey Jamie welcome to the forums I'm kinda new myself. yeah man chasing mullys in the lake is hard work. You should try the bridge near aami stadium using live shitties. It's a top spot for live bait. I had a massive hookup there a few weeks ago but the bugger snapped me off. make sure you have good tackle and cast away from the bridge into the shadows. IMO live bait is the best, too much hassle using squid and fillets as they get hammered by annoying little breams as Benton mentioned. Why not have a live bait out and use your second rod casting lures, that way you have both bases covered thus increasing your odds.oh and I've met some mully veterans of the lake and they advise me to fish on a full moon to new moon. Definitely something I'm going to look into but dunno if they talkin rubbish or not lol.anyhow good luck let us know how you get on.
