  1. 4 day sale finished last weekend, they are in the site sponsor sectionpretty sure they do mail order if you cant get thereI think they have a 4 day sale 4 times a year, haven't missed one yet They used to post their sale catalouge out to compleat angler members, now they email it out which is better cause the wife cant hide it  Yorky

  2. I bought some of the lucanus jigs at the last Compleat Angler sale bargain prices (as always)60g = $5, 100g = $9.95, 150g = $12.95 couldn't walk past them, also bought a 300g Octa for $9 amoungst many other things, including the price I had to pay when I got home with all my goodies it was still worth it :woohoo: haven't fished with the lucanus before but will be giving them a try next time I get out in the boatYorky

  3. I buy my tackle from my local shop for the following reasons1. when I need it repaired – they are there2. when I need advice – they are there3. when I need it now – they are there4. when I am unsure what I need – they are there5. when I want to pick it (tackle) up & play with it – they are there6. when the weather’s crap & I want to bum around – they are thereCant do that on eBay or at Big W & KmartBuy local & keep them there I sayYorky

  4. I have one of the rovex 'Big Boss' rods that you describeI find it great to cast with but I only have it coupled to a Aerlex 4000 reel, they will cast up to 100gm lure but struggle to cast a big bait & weight, 3oz & a pillie ok.I've caught big salmon & landed a few eaglies, & yes they are a gutsy rod, cast a treat & light to hold, but if your wanting to cast big baits & weights look at the setup Mr Willy recomendsYorky

  5. I use the 10x in 20,40,60 & 80lb. I have never had a problem with it & find it ties well & has good knot strength so I am not planning to change, but in saying that if you love the jinkai in 60lb & can get the same one in 40lb, why changeYorky

  6. I have a Shimano Saros in the 2500 size, these are around the $170 mark depending where you shop,I found them to cast great, lay the line/braid very nicely on the spool (comes with a spare spool) & is realy smooth to use, i wouldn't hesitate in getting another, (pause to look over the shoulder, "missus check")) infact I'm pretty sure I need to replace my 4000 with one soon :laugh :laugh: : Yorky

  7. I have made a simple tensioner to use when spooling reelsit consists of about 8" of 5/8 threaded rod & 2 rubbers off of an old set of falcon shock absorbers, put the threaded rod in the vice so that it sticks out sideways, put one rubber on the rod all the way to the vice, put the spool of mono/braid on (I have the line comming off from the top as it sits better on the reel), put the other rubber on up to the spool of line & turn it either way to adjust the tension, maintains the same tension all the time, this can also be taken when on trips for when you need to respool, just get your mates to hold each end of the threaded rod[Posted Image]Yorky

  8. I think the 3 days before the full moon & 3 days after the full moon are a myth, most guys I know recon their missus & kids go a bit strange around the full moon so i think the reason more fish are caught at this time is because more blokes are fishing to get out of the house ;D ;DYorky
