  2. What do you reckon guys? :-\It certainly caught me and got wet once from the boat with no joy Got plenty of weight, a wikid action and looks more prawny than a prawn while in the water 8)Gonna try it in the fresh soon.Luv to know if anyone has had any success or know of anyone catchingparticular species on it.Comes in different sizes/weights, this model is 60mm long without the feelers.Cheers, tonyb.
  3. Yep, there are a lot of irresponsible people out there Boys.I read that article through today as well and tho' I new there was a bit of netting going on in the Onka, I was to hear fisheries have taken TWELVE nets from that area of the Onka so far this year. :icon_e_surprised:The nets are all the same style and Fisheries say they are the same offenders. The pics were taken straight from S&H and the newspaper mentioned us as a recreational fishing forum stopping short of naming us.Wonder if they got or need permission for this action? Perhaps the Mod team could follow that one up for us?C
  4. We decided camo was the go, it worked so well when the boys were 3 - 5 meters away you really couldn't see em.Hey, Boys,That cammo wasn't S. A. Water "3D leaf green" style was it?Nah, youse boys wouldn't do a thing like that, WOULD YOU? :icon_e_biggrin:
  5. Get two thin sheets of plywood/bondwood about the size of two abalone, sandwich the Abs. between them after seasoning with your favourite sauce. Bind it all together and place in the oven for 4 or 5 hours on medium heat.Set the table with knife and fork and a good bottle of White wine. Now,remove from the oven and carefully peel off the abalone,Throw them all in the nearest bin and eat the bond wood, you'll enjoy it just as much. Don't forget to wash it down with the white wine!!Bon appetit.Me, I'd rather eat a gum boot and I haven't yet, but, I have tried Abalone in a million ways (ex scuba div
  6. Looks like a mouth watering session boys 8)I would expect you to be :-X on the hot spot but what about the lures?Come on, give the guys a break :icon_e_smile:

  8. Here's another game li'l fella bit off more than he could chew jagger. :icon_e_surprised:My Field Guide tells me it's a Lord Howe Coralfish ???Way out of it's Range, either I've contributed to marine science or the Guide missed this one :icon_e_geek:
  9. Hate to sound like a broken record young fella, but the club scene will have you climbing the fishing ladder of knowledge at a faster pace than you'll be able to cope with. ;DThe old heads have been there and done that but the young heads will go their own way.The choice is yours, we love to see the youngsters at SAFWAA and have an annual family day which is coming up shortly. We release rainbow trout in one of the dams and only the youngsters can fish for them on the day. Have you caught a trout yet? There are also fishing prizes for the boys and girls and we have a feast of a BBQ as well, wi
  10. Hey, Jagger,In the UK everybody uses them for sea fishing and I was very pleased to find a source at our local store last year :)Not sure if they still have 'em there now :-\We used to call 'em "Occy's" or "muppets" and you doubled your chances of an Atlantic Cod if you had one of them on your top trace baited with a lug worm, or rag worm piece. The better class of KGW's think it's party time when they see 'em. :icon_e_biggrin:I've outfished the skipper that many times that he's hooked on themnow and I'm getting dangerously low, might check out the store again soon. :)Cheers, tonyb
  11. Hey guys,Just found my long lost field guide called SEA FISHES of SouthernAustralia (Barry Hutchins and Roger Swainston)and that seems to clear all the confusion with these strange little guys/dolls.My Shaws Cowfish is a girl while WB's Shaws Cowfish is a boy.Swamp's is a boy ornate cowfish as the girl is striped like the Shaws, but has the yellow coloured belly.Confused? see if you can get a hold of this field guide it's a beauty with lots of great diagnostic piccies too. Can't tell you the price as one of my five adoring offspring bought it for me for Xmas 1996.Cheers, tonyb.
  12. I wonder how he'd go in Duck Hunting Season :oSave sh.t loads on shells, awesome
  13. Hey guys,Another yummy recipe of my missus, is to skin and fillet your favourite fish and line a medium casserole dish with the fillets.Finely chop onion/garlic over them.Pour a can of condensed soup over them without condensing the soup with water. I prefer chicken soup, but mushroom soup works, as well as tomato or any other that takes your fancyNow mix bread crumbs and grated cheese and sprinkle over the top fairly thickly to brown off to a crust in the oven.Pre heat and casserole (don't forget the lid) for 30 minutes on a medium heat.Enjoy, I'm not getting mixed up with them french words a
  14. Excellent! That one is saved to my favourites! ;DShe's a beauty all right Ranger, never had a wrasse before even after catching loads in the past.Had one with the sauce the other night, absolute delight :icon_e_biggrin:I reckon it'd turn the toughest old snapper you've ever caught into gourmet cuisine mate ;D ;DCheers, tonyb.

  18. I'm over it all now :icon_e_smile:Hey, peelipeeli12,I love all this crazy carry on on here but that's the second or third time I've upset the applecart. :-[ As I've still got a steep learning curve with the forums, just try and bear with me, I can't get any worse :icon_e_biggrin: :icon_e_biggrin:I've found bigger gaps between statements and tops/bottoms of pages clears a lot of confusion and more use of emoticons too.All the time learning mate :icon_e_geek: :icon_e_geek:Cheers, tonyb
  19. Now I'm really confused and I'm not serious about being serious either pellipeeli11 :icon_e_biggrin:
  20. Thanks for the input Joe, is the deeper dan the bright flashy barbell headed mully lure you make? if so I've got a few of them but haven't tried the lure types as I was thinking more on the lines of small drys or wets :-\ Could you bring a few of those white ones to the meeting if you remember and are they wet or dry?Was at Stu's place friday arvo, the place was boiling with fish rises. Stu was saying they never stopped all afternoon. Plenty of fly life too. Bit of heat really fired them up.Going back for a fish on friday with my new Fly Rod off Shane. Gotta get it christened. :icon_e_biggrin:

  22. Launched from West Beach two weeks ago and one of the guys showed me a chewed off rope end which used to have a stainless berley bucket on the end of it :icon_e_surprised:Reckons its now in the belly of a White Pointer, about 18 ks out in the Gulf :oWe went south that day :icon_e_biggrin:Cheers, Tonyb
  23. Hey crocka79, I have a feeling in my water that yours and mine were brothers and sisters and that I may of bumped into you up there once upon a time:-\Could you answer a few questions for me to confirm? Were you once a SAFWAA member?Did you catch a biiiig cod at a SAFWAA dam and have the pic on your mobile?Do/did you carry all your catch home alive in your bucket?Did you catch your fish on an Atomic Shad with a large Jig head? (I may be way off beam with the last question as I see a squidgy on your pic)Excellent work with your catch and a high five to the missus (can't get mine to play out at a
