My most memorable trip was to streaky bay 3 years ago.My mate Pete called me up and told me he was heading over to streaky with his 2 cousins from victoria. Apparently they cleaned up last time they went to streaky and there was one seat left if I was keen.I was estatic! Had been a long time since I had been away. We packed and made our way there, had some nice cabins to stay at brought our own bait, several blocks of pillies and about 20kg of cockles, alcohol and food and were away for 5 days total. A day each to drive up and back and 3 days to fish solid.The first day we headed down to Hale

Mulloway have preference over baits for sure...they aitn stupid. Id rather eat a gar or mullet over a shitty any day!Ive been fishing at west lakes with live shitties and no runs at all, I caught a gar and reeled in my still live and kickn shitty and chucked out the gar in exactly the same spot and I was already on before the bait had hit the bottom.

I popped down there and fished of the breakwater last night with live shitties.Didnt even get a sniff, had a few squid grab our baits though.Met Butters down there too!

:shock: Im still dreaming of the day I catch my big one....I reckon I was on my pontoon on the opposite side that day you caught that. Was that the one you hooked on s/p at the entrance that dragged you down to the 2nd beach brooksy? Thats a fantastic effort!

After hooking 4 fish in 2 nights, hooks pulling and being busted off several times, 85cm of west lakes schoolie madness...taken on an unweighted live gar. My pb for the lake :wink:

Heres a pic of the beast I caught last season off a local beach. Its head sat up at least a foot off the ground. Well over a 100kg easy it straightened my gaff trying to get him on the beach. We let him go after the pics.Sorry out the pic had to wait for my mate to drive down with a camera phone..
