  1. Hi All! We are setting off to Port douglas for 8 days on Wednesday. What would you guys advise to use tackle and bait wise for the species around the coastline in Port Douglas. Should I be trying more lures\SP\baits? Thanks for the advice in advance!Fishnut!
  2. Thanx Plankton, good info I may have a look at the ugly stick and certainly consider the level wind so may even change the reel choice as wellThanx Fishnut
  3. HI, The reel is the saltist overhead lever drag and probably the largest size (whichever that one is I forget the exact details) and looking at snapper as my target (but would like to consider any larger fish really) I am thinking to be able to bait fish & or soft plastics , so thanx for any help! Fishnut
  4. Hi All, Being a bit of a novice still( all things fishing), can anyone recommend a rod to match a Daiwa Saltist reel I am thinking of getting. I do the majority of my fishing from the boat and are looking to get a good quality set up and target some decent fighting fish! I guess the budget for the rod is around the $200 - $300 mark so not too sure what I would get for that sort of money and the choice is mind boggling  Thanx Fishnut
  5. Thanx Projoe! I might take you up on the casting tuition, I am off to BCF today to take a look at some tackle. Thanx for your input it has helped already, nothing like trying something new eh  Fishnut!!
  6. Thanx Projoe, Sorry to sound ignorant but honestly I really am, with regards to fly fishing and most of what you said I didn't understand ie, wt line etc I guess I am looking for salmon or any other species that would take a fly from a boat out on the brine I have no idea about fly fishing but looking to expand my fishing repertoire and hence try new techniques, I figured that the more skills I have the more opportunities I get for catching these elusive fish!!!! no harm in in trying and frankly it looks a bit of an "art" !!!! :cheer: Thanx Fishnut
  7. Hi All!!
