  1. Thought I would start this topic for the fun of it, as most posts on here end up with it un-intended or not, so what is better? Most people I talk to say Shimano, as they are almost as good quality for sometimes a third of the price. As for me, I am also a Shimano man, which my rod rack certainly screams out! Please give your opinion, and mabye give some examples, like Sienna vs Sweepfire. Why is it you hear that everyone has Sienna's and no one with Sweepfires(me included)? This may become interesting... Cheers, Yakman :P

  2. I have been fishing off the rocks at Pt Noar for Salmon now and then over the past 2 seasons, and go to Lincoln/Coffins (aka Almonta) a bit, and was wondering what surface poppers are like for them.I have been told by a guy on Almonta that he loves using them and catches them when they are close to sure, and I also had good fun on poppers for 30cm ones out the yak on 4lb line, but have also been told by a mate that he has heard on different shows that they get spooked by them. What is your stance on it all? Also, if they do work, what sorts and colours are good for them? Cheers

  3. Mine would have to be my Sure catch Detector Tournament Pro, 4-8lb, paired with my Shimano Aernos FA 1000.Have caught Snapper, Bream, KG's, YFW, ST'S, Snook, carp and more on the rod, and on rod and reel have caught EP's, nice Bream, Trout, Snook, and hooked a Rat King, and Mulloway(both which stole my lures  ) on the combo, as i only got the reel a month ago. Its amazing!!! :woohoo: Yakman. ;)

  4. Cheers guys.@ J1M, i also am looking at the same zing as well. For around $170 it is a great price. Im probably not going to bother with dropshot or Trion. They are not quite at the callibre i am after. Southie, where can you get that specific Samaki Zing in metro tackle shops. Need to feel one before i buy.Yakman

  5. At the moment i am after a Bream/Trout rod for under $200 dollars, no exeptions! :S This will be used for casting HB's, vibes, SP's, and spinners. I want it no more than 1.5-4kg, and between 6,5-7,1, so i have great taiper for casting. I am running it with 2lb, and 5lb line on my Simano Aernos 1000FA. What should i go? ATM i am looking at the Shimano lure project 1-4kg http://www.anglerswarehouse.com.au/products.asp?categorynospaces=shimano_mf_raider_lure_project_series_rods_376 or the G-Loomis Aussie GL2 http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/rods-reels/g-loomis-rods/g-loomis-spinning-rods/ . For price-Quality comparason, which is better value, or is there an even better alternative? Remember, i am after the casting and high taiper. Thanks Yakman. :)

  6. Please, please, please dont threat about it. Both Browns were released, and before the trip started my mate(who caught, and ate one in the Grampians)and I stated that I will only ever keep my first one(unless of undesirables, like a swallowed lure, very unlikly). We have planned to let the rest go, like we do with Bream now, unless from a very sustainable place, or Vic. I too kept one of my first but actually felt regretful whilst cleaning it.I agree strongly with that statment, espesially, after what i found.P.S, thanks for all the advise, and yes, i also have heard reddies are the way to go, just want to try a Trout aswell :vomit: Yakman. :)
