  1. yes to metro beaches...which ones... time and effort will find that out. I know they are available from seacliff to aldinga so this shoudl get you off to a flying start !Look for greay patches around 4" round with holes in the middle or patches of holes in close vacinity of each other and pump away. You will need something to pump into othere wise you will lose most of them.there you go.. I had a go...now it's your turn.

  2. I've commnly known these as Ling here as well. Either way...always get them out at the lumb and to tell you the truth, they are'nt bad eating either:ohmy: Very soft flesh that comes up beautifully in a beer batter but not the easiest fish to fillet due to how soft the flesh is.Any way... Ling...beardie.....Bearded Cod...all same...:silly:

  3. Have some more 40 & 80 gram being made as we speak guys ;) ;)will post back up here when we have them  :whistle:Finatic

Good to hear kym, will be in for some when they arrive...sadly back out ther for work tuesday:dry: Darren, I have source mine from Salisbury tackle world for a while now after looking else where.... don't have to look no more and the best thing is you're only around the corner
  4. Not sure about the tracks but for nippers look for the dark round patches of sand ( normally around 4" with a hole in the middle and use a bait pump directly over it. there is a worm that presents almost identically so don't get too frustrated. The bigger worms work well too... don't stay on the hook real well though.

  5. Had my first real crack recently and pulled 11 first up. Sight casting only. I swear black and blue it was the 1.5 hours of getting nippers before that did the trick. They smashed they compared to anything else. Dynabait and freshly pumped beach worms did get a couple but nothing like nippers. They were woofing them in that much most were gut hooked were they were sucking on the worms. Makes sense when you think how they would eat...like they say..think like a fish !!

  6. I'm kinda surprised the servo's don't clean out the frozen pizzas and pizza rolls for a day... god only knows they wouldn't be selling any with all the food flying around christmas day. With all the spare room they could fit a heap of ice in.The flip side...Dropping a pallet outside = no labour/ maximum profitClearing shelves and man handling ice all day long to re-stock depleting shelves = minimal profit and lost manhours! It's pretty clear why they do what they do. Most places I have ever come accross tell you to grab 2-3 bags if they're half defrosted. Most times I have come out on top !!

  7. Could be wrong, but under the impression that a charters can't double hat as a commercial fishing boat if clients are on board. I have heard that they can hold a commercial licence to fish the seasons etc pro one day, charter the next.. but to take a client out, keep everything and sell their catch..hhhmmmm, smells a bit fishy.

  8. Honestly mate... find it hard to believe. Seen a few fishing dvds filmed around there and they are releasing plenty of kingies....they certainly aren't short a few over there. One of the draw cards to Lord Howe is even being able to hand feed kingies from the protected beach they have so yeah.. bit hard to swollow. Sad if it is true though

  9. It's $60 per annum but currently I believe the Membership officer has it set as $56 till the AGM (July ??) either way... awesome value and massive variety of fish, dams, fishing buddies, experience, tuition (if you ask nicely), equipment....anyway I could keep going but you get the picture !! I've paid more than $1000 per year for golf membership and not got anywhere near the joy as I do from SAFWAAJags(SAFWAA Treasurer)

  10. I will probably cop some flack for this' date=' but I think that's healthy anyway, so no offense will be taken by me :)I will be the first to support reductions in commercial snapper fishing here. As it should help both the market price for the pro's and the Snapper stocks.BUT, as recreational anglers, we should be responsible and take only what we need, or is reasonable. To a lot of people, a BAG limit is like a challenge, and I reckon they take the BAG because of some kind of trophy element. For example, 2 90cm Snapper is a bloody lot of fish! Also it doesn't taste awesome compared to the ruggers anyway. If you don't get them regularly then fair enough, but to be taking a boat limit everytime you get on them is just greedy IMO. Same as the other species like KGs and Yellowfin. 5 or six of these fish is a nice family feed. In my ideal world, the commercial fishos would be looked after as far as reasonable regulations that preserve market returns for them and protects our resources. And catch and release should be more widely promoted with advice from fisheries about how best to ensure survival for released captures.I know when the summer run of Bream are in in our spot, some guys are out there catching a feed of them. Seeing 10 Bream over 28cm sitting in a bucket makes me pretty sad. And really, a 15 or 20 year old bream that's been living in the Port isn't going to be good for you anyway... Summer run or not!Just my opinion and I feel strongly enough to post it. For me and my family, a couple of big Snapper and half a dozen or so ruggers is plenty feed for the whole of summer. Chuck in a dozen kgs and dozen yellowfin with some blue crabs, and that is more than enough for us to have great feeds of fish all year round really and the freezer is full anyway. And this is nowhere near taking our bag limits. Release all you can and take only what you will actually eat.Cheers and tight lines[/quote']Good post Jack, and good onya for puting it out there. Agree with you on most points.I'm going to give another example though...I don't get out that often in the boat so when I do get into them I usually keep what I can legally...KGW (havn't bagged out in years), the odd snapper, heaps of blueys and garfish and what ever squid I can get here and there. Sadly I probably get more salmon in the fridge than anything! In winter me and the family don't eat heaps of fish. Lots of fish currys' ( normally hte older gar fillets and of course plenty of salmon ) In summer, we a lot of fish... sometime 4-5 times a week when you take into consideration crabs and squid.Basically.. what I'm saying is for me to go out once a month and get half a dozen KGW, 20 odd crabs, a dozen squid and 50+ garfish... doens't go real far sometimes !If.... if I could get out a couple of times a week, I would be right with you only taking a few YFW for a meal and a couple of crabs etc... you see where I'm going. I know where exactly where you're going with the trophy bag and deep dwn it is.... it's that satisfaction... blah balah blah... anyway, the bloke you see with the bag full might of been out of the water for 3 months and getting his legal quota may just keep him going for the next 3 months...As I said.. just another spin on it...Personally love to be able to get out fora feed when I wanted !

  13. Jake have a good look at the specs mate, you'll find the 2500 has a much larger drag capacity and holds a lot more line( bugger all size difference to ). Can't beat them though, great reels and I know one thing.... I WILL buy them again and again !!!Best test I have out them through was at Browns earlier this year... skull dragged 2kg salmon after salmon and never skipped a beat !! And when I say skull dragged... there was seals chasing the salmon every other fish !

  14. Very nice mate ! would love to see the flies your using out deep, looks like a fair biof weight to them.. come to think of it... might have to get you to switch my reel around.. never did manage to get that bloody clip off.
