1. any thoughts on a Pflueger Trion rod? I'm kind of leaning towards that for the momentand thanks for all the help, guys!
2. tonyb - thanks a bunch, mate! I'll get an ad up on there and do a bit of ringing/running around tomorrow and see what I can find.. hopefully won't have to take one of yours off ya southie - I'll give it a look tomorrow, luckily have the day off so I'll be able to hit a couple of those kinds of places up..
3. oh mate, that'd be dreadful! :pinch: I'll keep watching that section and see if something comes up.. I might get a bit impatient though and get myself something sooner solid317 - the rod just keeps sounding better.. if I dont see the Raider for a bit cheaper, that's definitely going to be my next rod!
4. Thanks guys! tonyb - I'll keep an eye out for a second hand Shimano Raider, but I'm not really sure where to be looking.. Phil29 - I'll give them a call to find out prices, I dont mind a bit of a drive if I have to.. and I'll have a look at a review of that rod and make a comparison..Old Salty - good to hear a good testimonial! only reason I mentioned a cork handle was because I wasn't sure of if that made a difference to the price.. thanks again!
5. Hey, I'm interested in flicking some lures about in fresh and salt water so I'm looking for a light rod (2-4 kg) by itself as I already have a good (but cheap) 8 ball bearing 2000 bait runner reel with 6lb Fins braid.. I've been told to get a Shimano Catana 7 foot rod with the cork handle in the 2-4kg range to suit what I want, and that it should be around the $50 mark, but the shops I've called or visited either only sell them in a combo or are around the $100 mark. I know it sounds cheap, but I don't want to be paying double the price for the same quality rod..my question is - does anybody k
6. nice catch!
7. That boat looks perfect size for what you were using it for! Did you build it yourself or did you buy it from somewhere and was it designed for that kind of use? Some of the other boats I've seen on the internet had a hook or latch or something on the back of the boat to tow the line to where you needed it to go and some didn't and I imagine when towing out shark baits, you'd definitely want whatever it is that's holding the line to be able to let it go easily, so did yours have that?
8. yeah, I showed a mate this and he wanted one for shark baiting.. I don't know how well some of them would go against waves but you could definitely get them out a couple hundred metres on a good calm day.. a bit expensive to lose though! could be great for burleying up the same spot a few days prior to hunting a monster fish too?!
9. I saw some bait boats for sale on the internet so I checked out a couple of videos of them being used and they seemed like a pretty good idea (if you've got the cash and the need for them)..I was just wondering if anyone has used them here and if they've had any success?
