  1. If your interested in getting started with SP's the best think you could do is get yourself a copy of the Berkley Softplastic DVD its the best thing I ever did ;)Also you might like to have a look here http://www.purefishing.com.au/armchair/It has some good info about rigging SP's
  2. WOW thats scary it looks exactly like the one I got As you said I didn't think Rock Fish were found in our waters but it looks very much like thats what it is {SMILIES_PATH}/shocked.gif Will try to get a confirmed ID from the museum {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif

  4. On a side note what size leader are you using? as this can have an affect on you catch rate. For around the Onka 4lb is a good size for bream and will handle small Mullies as long as you have your drag set correctly. For heavy snag areas I will go up to 8lb with some people going for 10lb.A just legal Mulloway I got from West Lake on 6lb fireline, 4lb (cheap and nasty) leader, Gamagatsu #2 - 211 jighead with a 2" Minnow Grub in Pumpkinseed {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif.If the budget can stretch a bit, Waterboy has a Strudwick SoftBodz 1-3kg 7 foot 1 piece rod with recoil guides, a very light and resp
  5. The closest thing I can find on the Australian Museum Fish web site is the Family [i:24p653fw]Scorpaenidae[/i:24p653fw]With a [i:24p653fw]Notesthes robusta[/i:24p653fw] Common name: Bullrout, the closest matchhttp://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishf ... obusta.htmGlad I had Lip Grippers for this bugger as in the same family are the Scorpion fishQuote regarding the Bullrout Whether it is or not I dont know {SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif[me=Buff]

  7. Well this one has me stumped, have got a few weird and wonderful over the years but this has me be-jiggered .Was flicking a SP on a heavy head on the bottom around the cement terminal and got a good hit but soon was dragged into a snag, gave some slack line and out from the snag it came.It had a lot of weight and gave a few shakes but was soon on the deck and was it UGLY (no its not the Mother Inlaw)A Face only a Mother could love (No not mine )Some nasty Gill Raker's on the bugger So any ideas ! ! ! ! ! Remember you did ask {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gifAs much as I love my Yak fishing, there was just No Way I was hitting the water today. This morning saw me doing some domestics plus some grocery shopping but this lack of fishing left me with an empty feeling so a decision to have a snoop around some tackle shops were in order (Bad Move for the wallet )Ended up with one or three new additions:A Chubby or twoTop to bottomGhost Ayu - floatingNew "Suspending" Suji ShrimpGhost Wakasagi - Shallow/floatingBlack Market - Shallow/floatingJackall Flat Fry (50mm sinking)Bass Day Lip less Sugar Minnows (sinki

    Curse you Ebay

@ FrogThe L50 in size is about the same size as the Saltiga 30Z but with a slightly larger line capacity {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gifand it also fits into the same category/style of fishing as the Saltiga {SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif

    Curse you Ebay

@ finaticNot a worries about the reel being stolen from SFS and resold as this size Ocean Mark (L50) had not been released into Australia at the time of the brake in at SFS {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif.Also seeing the Ebay store is in Malaysia i doubt it might have started its life here in OZ
  13. @ Cliff As Wino and Ranger has suggested these shops do carry Owners with most of the Lure "savvy" stores having a good selection.I did drop into Anaconda and they are stocking a complete range down to size 20 but like most of the stuff they stock it ain't cheep unless there is a 20% sale then there closer to what most of the tackle shops are selling them for {SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif@ Goat Herder (aka:Wino)@ Gaffer Have worked out that the Hobie will tow behind the boat nicely

  15. Have been admiring a Studio Ocean Mark L50 ever since there release but with there horrendous price tag here in Australia it never entered my mind to think of getting one.Like a lot of us I snoop around Ebay just to see what fishing gear is on offer, mostly rubbish but sometimes a gem or two.Well you can imagine my surprise when there on offer is a brand new reel for less than the stores here in Australia can get them for from the Australian importer and its from a Ebay store I have got gear from before who has Very good feedback. So in a rush of adrenalin/excitement the buy button was pressed

  21. With the up coming SA Bream Classic close at hand I decided a few more lures were needed (as if I needed any excuses)Did the rounds of the more productive lure stocking tackle shops and acquired a few new ones that I haven?t seen before.Damiki Craft International MU: 45mm long, 4.5g in weightThe pink packeted one is fitted with very light gauge singles, so I assume it would be classed as a Area Trout lure, the singles have been chucked and some Owner?s have been fitted.Going by the ?SP? on the label of the Yellow pack I assume stands for Suspending.Going by the size of the bib I would hazard a
