    Hey Guys

1000-2000 is perfect! I'd suggest around 1500-2000 for a decent line capacity' date=' making a more versatile outfit.Start with 6lb braid' date=' as when you go lighter you will experience issues with wind knots (maybe further down the track you can go down to 3 or 4 lb).Start with 4, 6 and 8lb leader. Tie on 6lb, if the fish are finicky go down to 4lb, if in heavy structure go up to 8lb.You can get any number of decent outfits quite cheap these days. Look for a rod around 7', IM 8 (graphite content) either 1-3 or 2-4kg, which will be a good match for the little reel.Be careful. Although these

    Hey Guys

yeah budget nothing that cost huge $$$ . what I saw at this supermarket tackle chain was about $70 (give or take) for the 1000 and $124 to $154 for the rod .A kit for $120 something .
  8. OK I've been having major life changes as of late .wont bore the world with them.Going to change my way of fishing:boot: .Deciding to try lure fishing hardbodies first.I'm looking for a cheapish new reel and rod any clues !!I had a look this afternoon at my local fishing supermarket:P ( a few steps around my corner i will be looking everywhere) .Nice chap suggested 1000 to 2000 weight reel showed me a couple of nice rods .One being a Pflugger just like my fly rod .Of course I'll be chasing Bream in the lake and more likely the Pat .As I now live very close to the Pat and not down the bay:P .B
  9. Dave I went back yesterday morning .Donut day
  10. Well it has been a very very long time .So day after xmas winds blowing cooler than Xmas day.But I headed down to the lake anyway.Wind was blowing very strongly headed to the side of the lake with it at my back .Third cast and some tiny bream were jumping at my popper fly.I noticed that my newly tied fly matched the thrown out crayfish shells littering the lakes floor .Anyway that was it for that side of the lake.So I thought the wind would also be at my back on the other side .Well I was wrong .First cast on this side was a shocker .But suddenly I'm on and off of a small Bream.Next cast was a

  15. After my Victor trip got cancelled for this weekend. I went for a flick along two of my favorite haunts at the lake yesterday. While me being me I should have used sinking line and varied my flies .Of course I left the floating line on and went with my popper flies. While I got zero fish .I did get a fair few mini Bream to perform aerobatics while trying to eat something they couldn't grab. Jumping bream always gets my heart a ticking.but its better if they take the fly.Tracking along these two beaches .I was trailing a school of something all I can tell u is they were small and thin (pencil gar

thanks guys .Will be giving the hindmarsh a go .Dave I was walking along some trails down there dont ask me where I had a guide.Saw some beaches with rocks that could be worth a wade long with some nice stretches of sandy beaches .If I had a boat or yak walking across to granite island I saw some nice patches of sand amongst the deeper weed water.Fingers crossed for this weekend
