  1. I refused to buy them after they photo-shopped one into a snappers maouth on the cover of a fishing mag. Absolutely pathetic advertising from Shimano. I'll try and find the mag and scan the cover up, its a joke. Even when they used them on barra up north on I-fish, the shimano dude was struggling to get fish.
  2. I found mexico really bad for ramp range and people with the "I paid my ramp fee I'll take as long as I f***ing well want" attitude. I lived on Phillip Island and regularly saw complete melt-downs at the ramp while I was walking my dogs or at the ramp myself. There's a lot to be said for learning to drive on to your trailer confidently and if possible idling outside while your mate gets the car, then you can use the middle lane and its a blink and you'll miss it affair. We did this the other night and the half-dozen boats I waved through were really appreciative that we weren't hanging around t
  3. 2 words. Rarenium. Bro. Awesome drag on a reel that's light and punches way above its weight. There's heaps of good reels out there though, and rods are easy, just takes time to find one that 'fits'. Don't go in with a brand in your head, just get an outfit that feels right.JMHO and nothing else.
  4. I caught a beast the other day garfishing in west lakes, didn't have my phone so I did a sketch, hope it helps
  5. If someone caught a 60cm bream they'd get on the cover of Blue water or something! Probably turn westlakes into the lizard island of Bream locations! The biggest yellowfin bream I've ever caught was around 40cms on the nambucca river as a kid growing up, skull dragged in on 20lb mono thankyou very much....As for the "unreal bunch of knobs" on here, thats a bit harsh- don't send in reports of mythical beasts being caught without a pic! Maybe we can catch up and I'll tell you about the 85cm YFW I caught above the torrens weir
  6. As a dirty Mexican, formerly of Phillip island, I miss the muddy bay with her big currents for big reds, the surf beaches in winter for sambos and stopping off for a beer halfway through the day in any number of coastal towns before getting back out in the entrance to crack into some kg's and gummy.SA ain't bad though I have to say!
  7. Totally true Dan, "prospecting" can be a real confidence basher, I'm not a dedicated plastics guy out of my boat, so I'll only really put one down once I've had a few runs and I know there's a few lurking around the trail. I'd love to get one on a vibe- $60 dollars worth of psychodelic japanese delights later I'm still trying to pop that cherry!
  8. There's a lot to be said for "Fish slow then fish slower again" as the saying goes, the best fish I've caught on plastics have all been caught on the slowest possible retrieve with a good healthy rod rattle every now and again, and on dirty looking brown plastics with the lightest possible jig head. Just my experiance with SP's,
