    Elliston

Big tommies, snook, garfish and squid were caught from the jetty. Whiting are about from both Anxious and Waterloo Bay beaches. Whiting are patchy for the boaties but snook of mixed sizes are very prolific.

    Locks Well

Salmon were around before the windy weather set in.

    Sheringa

A few salmon along with the odd whiting and salmon trout were around before the wind blew up.

Watched Neil Tedesco on adventure bound ( Replay) a couple weeks ago fishing for KG'S at Port Philip bay and he mentioned he always uses Circle hooks, get them in the corner of the mouth but more importantly no swallowing the hooks.

Might be worth a try ??

Cheers - might try that in areas prone to baby snaps.Must admit that some did not survive the dehooking - I feel awful when that happens

Hmmmmm...

Went out around the bay yesterday with a mate who know's the local waters like the back of his hand,in the dark, with mittens on .
Looking forward to pulling in a good feed of King George.

How wrong could we be??
Not one KG pulled in

4 of the spots we called at were absolutely alive with baby Snaps - double headers every cast. They were a pain in the arse as most were swallowing the hooks very deep - boy were they hungry!

On the spots where there were no pesky snaps there were no pesky Leatherjackets either??

Must have done a dozen spots so we worked for it!

The environment in the bay has changed?
Temporary I hope?
We guess it's the huge amounts of baby snaps that have come in and chased everything else off.
Let's hope it comes back soon.
At least the snaps will grow to be caught eventually?

Oh - BTW - the F@@@***g crab pots were out for miles near West Beach. What a Nav hazard!!!

Only a narrow window of opportunity this arvo as a late finish at work

left me with only an hour or so to get my weekly reddy fix

I took this opportunity to try one of my new Damiki blades out and it

didn't disappoint Second cast had the best fish of the

evening and ten of his peers joined him/her before it got too dark to

see where the blade was landing and also, the mossies decided they

didn't mind a bit of a nibble at an old poms skin

This blade was a bit heavy for really good tactics as the lure sank

quickly and had to be retreived too quickly, to avoid snagging the

weedy bottom all the time

Reddys like it slow

.Bob's fish went 122cm long and had a girth of 46cm.

Looking at the photo in the paper i think the length was a bit

stretched at 1.2m! Must have had huge hands if so.

That length quoted there has got to be a typo Graham

A 1.5 kg fish is around 45 to 46 cms from all my personal records!

I can't see how adding one kilo of weight to a fish would make it

THREE times longer

Somebody should catch a biggish one....put it in a dam on its own and supply it with gambusia or Yabbies or whatever, look after it, nuture it (LOL) and protect it and see how big it gets....

Only 1 problem Booma.... totally illegal !! Although I'm sure most people have heard of re-locating going on , it's not the sort of thing we want to be prmoting on the site.
Totally see where you're going though mate !!

Archerfish, I'm pretty sure that reference is what's got Tony going about the sizes in the first place. Me thinks the museums got it aaaalll wrong this time !! That is unless they have a 10kg specimen on show somewhere ???
