If you want to accurately set your live bait a certain distance from the bottom to keep him from seeking shelter or maintain him in the strike zone first make a dry run with no bait just a sinker attached to the hook, run to bottom then pull up the desired distance then place a small piece of paper, plastic, string etc. under that wrap on the reel spool then wind up & bait, when you run back in stop once the flag is released & presto your there. Cheers & tight linesSpog

Here's another hint that goes with this technique, it's an easy way to attach a balloon anywhere on the main line with no threat of leaving remnants on the line, you can also tie the balloon neck directly around the loop, but I prefer to use a rubber band as my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be, especially when they're cold.plse see attachment [file name=baX41zhT__rigging.doc size=25088]http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/baX41zhT__rigging.doc[/file]

Good advice spog, there is another way as well, once you have found the depth you want, put the line in the line clip on your spool. Then tie a piece of wool to your line using a stop knot, leaving about an inch of tag, tie it about an inch from your rod tip.Unclip your line clip, then you can wind the wool through your guides back onto the spool .When you drop the livey in just feed out the line till the wool tag is back to its position an inch from the tip,can be cast out/ wound back /fed out as many times as you want, and puts the bait back to excact same depth every time.Cheers {SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif
