hey guys, just a quick one. Do these reels cast far? ? I want to get one as a surf reel, would it be any good? Thanks nathan

howdy mate,i have two saltists,both cast very well,one is the 30 non level wind and the other is the 20 levelwind,both very capable reels.you won't regret buying one,goodluck.cheers adamibinfishin

Hey adamibinfishin, you dont find the friction caused by the level wind reducing casting distance ?

They cast excellent, run a 30T on my GF540 and it casts an abosolute mile. Run it down Salt Creek, FWC etc

My 30T's a non-level wind. Prefer usin them over levelwind reels!

howdy afishyfish,they cast excellent mate and friction is minimal,what shark fisho said is correct aswell about level winds.they can cut down casting distance but in experienced hands this is minimised when spool tension is set correct and the angler is prepared to give them a good rip when casting.practice is whats required and good technique.hope this helps,cheers.

Nothing wrong wid Levelwind reels for casting in the surf thats why so many people use 7000, 9000 and 10000s for jewies
